After Ford Prevented the Sale of Troller’s Factory in Horizonte, Ceará, Operations Have a Deadline to Be Shut Down and Starting Next Month, the Dismissal of 450 Employees Will Begin Gradually

The operations of the Troller factory in Ceará will be closed in December 2021. The automaker Ford is already planning to dismiss several employees from the plant starting next month in October. The dismissal will occur gradually and will be applied to one sector at a time, based on demand. This is because, although Troller’s production is expected to end this month, the Ceará utility brand must work to fulfill orders that had already been placed earlier. This transition, considering the final delivery and the closing of the factory, should be completed by the end of the year.

Troller Will Cause the Dismissal of 450 Employees in Ceará

The information was confirmed by Nilton Pereira, president of the Metalworkers’ Union of Maracanaú, who is alongside Ford and the employees to ensure that all rights are guaranteed for collaborators who still work in Troller’s production in Ceará.

In total, the car production unit has around 450 employees. The Ceará market, the Troller employees, and the State Government itself still had hopes that Ford would complete the sale of the production unit established in the municipality of Horizonte, but those hopes ended in recent weeks.

The intention of everyone was to keep jobs active, generating income for the municipality’s economy. According to Pereira, the employees’ state is already one of acceptance of dismissal and closure of operations. In addition, they dismiss the possibility of a sales negotiation.

Ford Does Not Accept the Sale of the Factory in Ceará

According to Nilton, starting in October, the homologation and dismissal of employees should begin, sector by sector, until December. Until the last employee is let go.

The employees must deliver the cars that have already been demanded, but they are aware of the situation and that Ford will close the factory. According to Milton, there were many companies and entrepreneurs interested in purchasing the unit.

There is no confirmation of the number of vehicles that should be delivered by the end of the year. The deadlock related to the transaction was confirmed by Maia Júnior, Secretary of Economic Development and Labor of the State Government. According to Maia, the matter has already been closed by the Ford automaker, and when contacted for comment, they did not respond to any inquiries.

The factory produces fiberglass parts through the SMC process using 1,600-ton presses, applies structural adhesives with the help of robots, and includes welding processes, CMM machines capable of measuring a complete car body, and many other activities.
