The Launch of the Foldable iPhone 2026 Should Mark a Change in Apple’s Posture That Will Come Late to a Market Dominated by Samsung.

In 2026, Apple is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone, in an atypical strategy for a brand that has always sought to set trends.

The information was revealed by Mark Gurman, a Bloomberg analyst, in his newsletter “Power On”. The device, still in development, is expected to adopt a design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold.

The decision represents a rare occasion where Apple follows a path already taken by competitors. The new product is highly anticipated by users who want a foldable device but prefer to stay within the iOS ecosystem.

Foldable iPhone Arrives Late but Could Redefine the Market

Unlike the original iPhone, AirPods, or Apple Watch, the launch of the foldable iPhone will not be pioneering.

The foldable phone segment has been around for about seven years and is currently led by Samsung, Apple’s main rival in hardware. Gurman highlights that this time, the company does not intend to reinvent the wheel.

Instead of presenting a technological revolution, the brand seems focused on meeting a growing demand for devices with foldable screens.

Familiar Components and Partnership with the Korean Rival

According to Gurman, the new foldable iPhone will feature components already used by competitors, including foldable OLED screens manufactured by Samsung Display.

Although this may seem like a conservative move, the analyst argues that this type of launch can be strategic. Apple, even without radical innovation, can consolidate foldables as a new market standard, precisely because of its enormous base of loyal users.

Foldable Technology Gains New Momentum

Although not new, foldable smartphone technology is still seen by many as a premium feature. The foldable iPhone may change this perception.

With Apple’s entry into the sector, a significant increase in visibility and consumer desire for this type of technology is expected.

This could benefit not only Apple but also companies like Samsung, which supplies components and is already strongly active in this niche.

Apple Could Boost Competition with Its Own Launch

Interestingly, Gurman points out that the launch of the foldable iPhone could also boost sales of the Galaxy Z Fold models.

This is because the attention generated by the new device may increase general interest in foldable phones.

Additionally, Android consumers who have not yet tried the technology may be influenced by the trend set by Apple.

New iPad Pro Camera with M5 Chip Also on the Horizon

Besides the foldable iPhone, Gurman revealed that Apple is preparing an update for the iPad Pro with the M5 chip.

The new model may be launched as early as 2025 and will bring a simple yet significant change: the front camera will be repositioned.

This alteration, although subtle, could significantly enhance the experience in video calls, something increasingly present in the everyday use of tablets.

User Expectations and Market Impact

Expectations surrounding the new iPhone are high, even with the less disruptive proposal. Loyal brand users are waiting for an option that combines the quality of iOS with the practicality of foldable screens.

Thus, Apple is likely to further consolidate its presence in the technology and mobile device market. The launch promises to shake up the sector and attract both consumers and competitors.

An Atypical Launch with High Potential

Although entering the foldable market late, Apple can turn this disadvantage into a strategy.

With a loyal user base and a consolidated ecosystem, the foldable iPhone has the potential to popularize this category.

The launch, set for 2026, will not be just another technological novelty; it could represent a new phase for the company and for the smartphone market as a whole.
