The Importance of Clean and Renewable Energies
The world is undergoing a transformation regarding how it produces and consumes energy. More and more, the search for clean, sustainable, and renewable energy sources is becoming an urgent necessity.
The growing concern about global warming, climate change, and the environmental impacts caused by the excessive use of non-renewable energy sources, such as oil and coal, makes knowledge about renewable energies crucial for future generations.
According to experts, renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, and geothermal, are essential to reduce the carbon footprint and ensure a more sustainable future.
These energy sources do not emit greenhouse gases during their operation, making them viable ecological alternatives to replace fossil fuels, which are the primary cause of air pollution and climate change.
The proposed course offers a comprehensive and detailed view of the various renewable energy technologies, allowing participants to acquire practical and theoretical knowledge.
Additionally, the minicourse explores how these energy sources can be effectively applied, considering the economic and social aspects that surround the implementation of these technologies in different parts of the world.
What You Will Learn
The minicourse will consist of 10 classes, covering a range of relevant topics in the field of clean and renewable energies.
The classes will take place every Tuesday and Friday, starting on April 25, with an approximate duration of 90 minutes each.
At the end of each session, participants will have the opportunity to interact directly with the speakers and clarify doubts about the content presented.
The first class, scheduled for April 25, will address an essential topic: “Why the World Needs Clean Energy”. Different types of renewable energy sources will be discussed and how they contribute to reducing pollution and environmental impacts.
Starting from the second class, participants will dive into more specific issues, such as lithium batteries, an essential technology for electric cars and the transition to a more sustainable transportation model.
Other topics that will be covered include fuel cells and the use of hydrogen as an energy source, one of the most innovative topics today; solar energy, from its operation to its expansion prospects in Brazil and worldwide; solar cells, their manufacturing technologies, efficiency, and costs; and wind energy, which has become one of the most promising renewable energy sources in various regions of the planet.
The minicourse will also explore geothermal and tidal energies, two types of renewable energy that have gained prominence in recent years.
Additionally, biomass will be addressed, an energy source derived from organic materials, which can be used efficiently in various sectors, such as agribusiness and industry.
Finally, the course will conclude with a class on nuclear fusion in Tokamaks, a technology aimed at producing clean and inexhaustible energy. This topic, still under development, may hold the key to a fully sustainable energy future.
Target Audience and Certification
The course “Clean and Renewable Energies: What You Should Know” was primarily designed for high school students interested in understanding new possibilities for energy generation sustainably.
However, it is also open to undergraduate students and professionals working in the fields of science, technology, and the environment.
One of the advantages of the course is the direct interaction with the speakers after each class. This format allows participants to clarify doubts and deepen their knowledge on the discussed topics, creating a more dynamic and rich learning experience.
At the end of the course, participants who attend at least 70% of the classes will receive a certificate of completion, which can be useful for those seeking to add new knowledge to their academic or professional training.
How to Register
Registration for the course is completely free and can be done until April 20 by filling out the online form.
The registration is simple and quick, allowing all interested parties to secure their spot. It is important to highlight that the course will be streamed live on the YouTube channel of the Museum Science and Life, allowing anyone with internet access to participate.
