High Generation of Direct and Indirect Jobs in Solar and Wind Energy Parks Ensures That the State of Bahia Remains a Leader in the Brazilian Renewable Energy Market Ranking
Currently, Bahia leads the ranking of the main states engaged in solar and wind energy generation accumulated between January and August 2021, being also one of the main generators of jobs in this field. The two renewable energy sources are expected to invest around R$ 37 billion in municipalities in Bahia in the coming years, in addition to the R$ 25.7 billion that have already been injected into the State for the construction of wind and solar parks. This data was released last Monday (18) by the Secretariat of Economic Development (SDE), provided by the Electric Energy Trading Chamber. When compared to August 2020, there was an increase of around 14% in wind energy generation.

It is estimated that more than 64,000 direct jobs will be created in the new phase of construction of parks that are yet to begin. Regarding wind energy, the generation of new jobs has exceeded 148,000 across the entire production chain.
About 57,000 direct hires have been made in the initial construction phase of the parks, which are also already fully operational. There is also a forecast that another 69,000 direct and indirect jobs will be generated in the yet-to-begin construction of new parks.
Research and Development of New Technologies
During the international trip, Governor Rui Costa, along with Nelson Leal (Secretary of Economic Development), Paulo Guimarães (Superintendent of Investment Attraction at SDE), and Marcus Cavalcanti (Secretary of Infrastructure), met with top executives from Siemens Energy, a leading energy company based in the country that is currently at the forefront of research and development of new technologies and solutions for various projects aimed at generating and transmitting clean and renewable energy on a global scale.
Leal, Guimarães, and Cavalcanti assisted Governor Rui Costa in understanding the new technology presented by Siemens Energy executives for the large-scale production and application of green hydrogen, which is viewed as the fuel of the future.
The governor, the secretaries, and the Siemens Energy executives firmly believe that very soon green hydrogen could be produced in Bahia, but this is a project that will still be further studied and developed.
