Bosch, Nissan and Volkswagen Bet On The Technology That Obtains Hydrogen From Ethanol; The Fuel Comes To Revolutionize The Automobile Industry Worldwide
The multinational giant Bosch is a company that believes in electromobility of cars using ethanol. This will be possible thanks to the development of ethanol-based fuel cells, which are also being developed by Nissan and Volkswagen. With this technology, a chemical reaction occurs inside the vehicle engine that extracts hydrogen from ethanol and generates electricity, enabling it to be powered with autonomy and without generating polluting emissions.
“This is a great opportunity that Brazil and the ethanol industry have to generate energy with hydrogen fuel cells, both for stationary uses and urban mobility. By 2050, we know that we will have mobility free of carbon dioxide (CO2) and Brazil made the right decision in promoting ethanol, as it is a biofuel that also boosts local economy and generates jobs for the country,” said Bosch’s president in Latin America, Besaliel Botelho.
According to the executive, a new “leap in prosperity” is on the way. “Today, we are facing a new leap in prosperity with ethanol. Hydrogen, the most abundant element in the universe, is contained in ethanol, which is energy-intensive and can be produced with the renewable biomass advantages of sugarcane and corn. Hydrogen from ethanol is safe and has zero emissions. Brazil is the only country that has a national ethanol supply network. These factors are decisive for the electrification of cars and trucks without the burdens of batteries that cost five times more to recycle and still use dirty energy,” pointed out Barbosa.
