Investments in Wind Energy in the Northeast Keep Coming, and This Time It Was Bahia That Announced Billions of Reais
After Piauí Announced the Construction of the Largest Wind Farm in South America, now it was Bahia’s turn to be the stage for an investment announcement of R$ 1.9 billion in a wind farm.
The project will be managed by Neoenergia, which made the announcement last Thursday (09/19). The wind complex will be built in partnership with three other energy distributors, which will also construct the Piauí park.
The Project
The Oitis Wind Complex will be built by Força Eólica do Brasil and will consist of 12 Wind Farms, with
two of these farms (Oitis 1 and Oitis 8) having already sold 30% of their energy in the 2019 “A-4” Generation Auction held in June.
The other 10 farms will sell their energy in the free market, with an average capacity factor of 50% and the expected start of commercial operation for the farms is mid-2022.

Cheaper than new HB20, Onix, and Argo, this German sedan offers a 510-liter trunk, a 2.0 naturally aspirated engine, a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, and well-known mechanics; the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta Comfortline still draws attention in the used car market.
The complex in Bahia will have a capacity of 566.5 megawatts and will surpass the current installed capacity of operational wind sources, which is 516 MW.
The project is fully aligned with Neoenergia’s investment policy and its strategy to position itself in the liberalization of the Brazilian energy market.
Neoenergia is the parent company of Coelba and, after the construction of the plants in Bahia and Piauí, will have a portfolio of operational wind energy assets of 1.6 GW.
The company is the largest private group in the Brazilian electricity sector by the number of customers, with over 13.5 million consumer units served by its distributors Elektro, Coelba, Celpe, and Cosern.
