Vale’s night service connects Minas Gerais to Espírito Santo during school holidays, with departures from Belo Horizonte and Cariacica, long-distance travel via the Vitória a Minas Railway, tickets starting at R$ 87, and arrival in the morning in Greater Vitória.

Scheduled to run between July 1st and 31st, Vale’s Holiday Train returns to operate at night between Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, with departures from Belo Horizonte and Pedro Nolasco Station in Cariacica, in Greater Vitória.

For those making the complete journey, tickets cost R$ 87 in economy class and R$ 125 in executive class, in a trip designed to meet the increased travel demand during the school holiday period.

In the Minas Gerais–Espírito Santo direction, the train leaves Belo Horizonte Station at 7 PM and is scheduled to arrive at 8:15 AM at Pedro Nolasco Station in Cariacica, allowing for morning disembarkation in the Metropolitan Region of Vitória.

In the reverse direction, the train departs from Espírito Santo at 6 PM and arrives in the capital of Minas Gerais at 7:50 AM, maintaining the night travel format in both directions during the month of July.

Operated by Vale, the Vitória a Minas Railway connects the two states and offers special service during the period of high demand for family travel, especially in the months of January, July, and December.

The company states that the EFVM is the only railway in the country with long-distance passenger trains running daily, covering a distance of 664 km between Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.

According to Vale, the Holiday Train is part of commitments related to the renewal of the railway concession, in partnership with the National Land Transport Agency, ANTT, responsible for regulating the sector.

Night travel between Belo Horizonte and Cariacica

During the journey in the MG–ES direction, passengers boarding in Belo Horizonte pass through stations in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo before reaching Cariacica, a municipality in Greater Vitória where Pedro Nolasco Station is located.

Arriving in the early morning hours makes the service an option for those intending to continue traveling through Espírito Santo after disembarking, without altering the railway nature of the operation announced by the company.

Along the route towards Espírito Santo, the train passes through Dois Irmãos, Rio Piracicaba, Desembargador Drumond, Ipatinga, Governador Valadares, Conselheiro Pena, Resplendor, Aimorés, Baixo Guandu, Colatina, and Fundão.

The schedule also includes the connection between Itabira and Desembargador Drumond, in Minas Gerais, maintaining the stop points adopted since the beginning of the special operation of the Holiday Train.

On the return journey, the train departs from Pedro Nolasco Station and passes through Fundão, Colatina, Baixo Guandu, Aimorés, Resplendor, Conselheiro Pena, Governador Valadares, Ipatinga, Desembargador Drumond, Rio Piracicaba, and Dois Irmãos.

Although the departure and arrival times have been informed by the company, intermediate times may undergo operational adjustments along the route, according to the dynamics of the night train circulation.

The maintenance of stops considers, according to Vale, the demand of passengers and the structure available at the stations served during the special operation, without the inclusion of new points in the July schedule.

Vale’s Holiday Train Tickets

Sales for the night trips in July were opened on May 17, with service at ticket offices during regular hours and also online, through the official channel of Vale’s Passenger Train.

For safety reasons, there will be no ticket sales at stations during the night period, requiring advance purchase for those intending to board in one of the served cities.

In addition to online service available 24 hours, the company provided the phone number 0800 285 7000 as a channel for inquiries about schedules, tickets, service operation, and other passenger guidance.

On the trains, the offer includes economy and executive class, as well as facilities for passengers with reduced mobility, maintaining the service standard expected for passenger rail transport.

During the journey, users also have access to an onboard snack bar, where snacks and meals are sold, an important resource on a long-distance journey between Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.

Adjustments in Railway Operation in July

Since the start of the service, the special operation has undergone operational changes, according to Vale, based on the experience of the teams and feedback presented by passengers during the trips.

In a statement, João Falcão, director of the Vitória a Minas Railway, stated that “the operation of the Holiday Train is in constant improvement.”

From this monitoring, the company associates the adjustments with enhanced safety, comfort during the journey, and the preservation of the defined stop points for night circulation in July.

The initiative adds to the regular daytime trips already conducted on the railway, in which a train departs daily from Cariacica to Belo Horizonte at 7 AM and another leaves the capital of Minas Gerais heading to Espírito Santo at the same time.

Besides serving as transportation between cities, the journey attracts attention for the experience of crossing Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo by rail, on a long-distance route that maintains daily passenger operations.

During the school holiday period, the night trip expands the options for families and passengers who prefer to travel overnight, with disembarkation in the morning in Greater Vitória.

With a long journey, tickets starting at R$ 87, and arrival in the morning in Espírito Santo, the Holiday Train might compete with road and air options in July.

Would you endure more than 13 hours on rails to reach Espírito Santo?
