With A Subtly Updated Design And New Features, The BYD Dolphin Mini 2025 Will Be Launched With The Expectation Of Ending The Price War In The Chinese Market
BYD is preparing to launch the 2025 line of its entry-level electric car, the BYD Dolphin Mini 2025, with the official presentation scheduled for August 8 in China. The information was disclosed by a local dealer and confirmed by major Chinese automotive websites. Previously known as the BYD Seagull in China and launched in Brazil as the BYD Dolphin Mini in February, the model has stood out in electric vehicle sales, closely competing with the Dolphin model, according to the Insideevs website.
Design And News
The BYD Dolphin Mini 2025 maintains the visual essence of its predecessor, with subtle changes that include a new BYD logo on the rear, replacing the inscription “Build Your Dreams”. The flush door handles, darkened pillars, and rear spoiler remain, as does the overall wheel design, which now features differentiated details on the tips of the spokes. Internally, the main novelty is the addition of an electric adjustable driver’s seat and heated front seats in the mid-range version, in addition to a 360° camera system.
The 10.1-inch multimedia center and 7-inch instrument panel remain unchanged, as do the sound system with 4 speakers. These elements keep the interior of the BYD Dolphin Mini modern and functional, aligned with consumer expectations for technology and comfort in electric cars.

Technical Specifications
Mechanically, the BYD Dolphin Mini 2025 retains the electric motor with 75 hp and 13.6 kgfm of torque, which allows for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 14.9 seconds and a top speed of 130 km/h. The model is powered by a 38.8 kWh LFP (Blade) battery, offering a range of 280 km according to the Inmetro standard, and about 340 km in real-world conditions.
There is no confirmed date yet for the arrival of these updates in the Brazilian market. However, with local production planned to begin in Camaçari (BA) starting in 2025, it is possible that the pricing strategy and configuration for Brazil will be different. Currently, the Dolphin Mini is sold in Brazil for R$ 115,800 in the four-seat version and R$ 119,800 for the five-seat model, indicating a competitive positioning compared to other electric vehicles in the country.
Price And Market Strategy
The price of the BYD Seagull 2025 in China will be adjusted, ranging from 72,000 to 87,000 yuan (approximately R$ 54,300 to R$ 65,600). This increase of 2,200 yuan (about R$ 1,600) over the previous model may indicate BYD’s attempt to end the intense price competition in the Chinese market. However, with over 167,000 units sold in China between January and June 2024, the adjustment may also be a strategy to increase profit margins, given the satisfactory sales volume.
