Denza, BYD’s luxury brand, unveiled the Denza Z at the Beijing Auto Show with over 1,000 horsepower, three electric motors, and 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in under two seconds. The supercar is faster than the Ferrari SF90 Stradale and charges its battery from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes. BYD confirmed that the model will arrive in Brazil in the second half of 2026.

A BYD has just put an electric supercar on the map that challenges everything European brands have built over decades. The Denza Z, unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show, delivers over 1,000 horsepower distributed by three electric motors with all-wheel drive and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than two seconds. This figure puts the model ahead of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, which achieves the same mark in 2.5 seconds and was considered the fastest from the Italian automaker. For Brazil, the news is that the supercar is confirmed for the second half of 2026.

The Denza Z doesn’t just impress with its speed. The model’s battery is compatible with the fastest charging system offered by BYD, capable of taking the charge from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes. For comparison, most electric cars available on the market take between 30 and 60 minutes for an equivalent charge. The combination of brutal acceleration and ultra-fast recharging positions the Denza Z as a direct Chinese answer to the European supercars that have dominated the segment until now.

What the Denza Z has under the body and why it’s so fast

According to information released by the G1 portal, the Denza Z’s architecture brings together the most advanced aspects of BYD‘s electrification. There are three electric motors that total over 1,000 horsepower and ensure all-wheel drive, distributing power among the four tires to maximize grip during extreme accelerations. BYD did not disclose the exact power, but confirmed that the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is less than two seconds, a mark that places the model at the top of its category.

The car features DiSus-M magnetic suspension, the most advanced version of the system developed by the brand, and state-of-the-art semi-autonomous steering. The body uses carbon fiber in structural elements and the raised center console, a material that reduces weight and increases rigidity, directly contributing to dynamic performance. The mechanical assembly is designed to operate both on streets and tracks, with a specific configuration aimed at circuit use.

The design that blends German influence with Chinese technology

The Denza Z’s appearance carries an evident European heritage. The project is signed by designer Wolfgang Egger, formerly of Audi, and this influence appears in lines reminiscent of Maserati and Ferrari models, with classic supercar proportions that disguise its Chinese origin. The steering wheel evokes Porsche cars, and the side profile combines aerodynamic aggressiveness with an elegance not common in BYD vehicles.

The Chinese identity is revealed in the floating-style multimedia center with generous dimensions, a characteristic already known from other models of the brand. The Denza Z was displayed in light green during the Beijing Auto Show and can be configured as a convertible or coupe, offering two personalities in a single model. The interior accommodates four passengers, a rarity among supercars that typically sacrifice space in the name of aerodynamics.

The 9-minute recharge that changes the electric car game

Range and charging time are historically the weak points of high-performance electric cars. The Denza Z tackles this problem with a system that takes the battery from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes, eliminating the main objection of those who consider electric supercars impractical for daily use. The technology requires ultra-fast charging infrastructure that is not yet widely available, but BYD has been investing in expanding its network of high-power chargers.

For the Brazilian market, where charging infrastructure is growing rapidly but is still limited outside major centers, the Denza Z’s capability raises the question of where the owner will be able to take advantage of the 9 minutes of full charge. BYD already operates fast charging stations in Brazil and plans to expand the network, but the ultra-fast standard compatible with the Denza Z may require additional infrastructure investments that do not yet exist in the country.

Faster than Ferrari: what the comparison means for the market

The Denza Z’s acceleration of under two seconds surpasses the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, which does 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds. The comparison is symbolic because it places a Chinese brand on the same performance level that European automakers have built over decades of supercar tradition. The difference is that the Denza Z does this with electric motors and a battery, not with an internal combustion engine.

The phenomenon is not exclusive to BYD. Brands like Rimac, Lotus, and Ferrari itself have already launched or announced electric supercars that recognize the superiority of the instant torque of electric motors in launch accelerations. What differentiates the Denza Z is the combination of extreme performance with ultra-fast charging and the backing of a manufacturer that is already the world’s largest seller of electric cars, which guarantees production scale and potentially lower costs than those of artisanal European rivals.

When the Denza Z arrives in Brazil and what to expect

The supercar’s global launch is scheduled for July, in England, during the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Only then will the Denza Z be launched in China, in a strategy that prioritizes international markets to position Denza as a global luxury brand, not just as an extension of BYD in the domestic market. Brazil is confirmed for the second half of 2026.

The price has not yet been disclosed, but the expectation is that the Denza Z will arrive in the country in the range of imported supercars, competing with models from Porsche, Lamborghini, and Ferrari itself. For BYD, which in Brazil is known for affordable compact cars and electric SUVs, the Denza Z represents a shift in positioning that seeks to associate the brand with cutting-edge technology and top-tier performance, not just the cost-benefit that won over the popular market.

Would you buy a Chinese electric supercar faster than a Ferrari, or do you think the prestige of European brands is still worth more than the numbers? Tell us in the comments what you think about BYD entering the supercar market and if you believe the Denza Z will be successful in Brazil.
