Song Pro GL for PcD costs R$ 148,990, R$ 41 thousand below the table. It is the 2nd best-selling hybrid in Brazil with 2,230 units in January and costs R$ 62 thousand less than the Corolla Cross XRX Hybrid.

The plug-in hybrid SUV from BYD has become more accessible for buyers entitled to tax exemptions. The entry-level GL version of the Song Pro is being offered for R$ 148,990 in the direct sales mode for People with Disabilities, a discount of R$ 41 thousand off the list price. The top-of-the-line GS version maintains the price of R$ 199,990 for the general public and can be purchased for R$ 181,990 under the PcD condition.

With this positioning, the Song Pro GL for PcD costs R$ 62 thousand less than the Toyota Corolla Cross XRX Hybrid, which is sold for R$ 210,990, according to CanalTech. They are two hybrid SUVs competing in the same segment, but with a price difference that could buy an entire popular car.

What is the strategy behind this reduction?

BYD applied a targeted adjustment of R$ 1 thousand on the GL version for PcD compared to the previously practiced price of R$ 147,990. It is a small increase, but it indicates that the brand is calibrating margins without abandoning commercial aggressiveness.

The strategy is not new. Since the second half of 2025, BYD has been using the direct sales channel as a tool to accelerate volume. Taxi drivers have purchased the Song Pro GL for R$ 132,990, companies for R$ 161,492, and rural producers have had specific conditions. The PcD audience, due to their right to exemption from IPI and ICMS, can obtain the vehicle at prices that make comparison with traditional competitors almost unfair.

Local manufacturing in Camaçari, Bahia, is what enables this pricing policy. Vehicles assembled in Brazil have access to tax incentives that imported models do not reach. BYD inaugurated the Bahia operation with an SKD (kit assembly) regime and is gradually increasing the level of nationalization, which is expected to further reduce costs in the coming months.

What does the Song Pro deliver for this price?

The powertrain is a plug-in hybrid with DM-i technology. The GL version combines a 1.5 gasoline engine with an electric motor, totaling 223 horsepower combined. The 12.9 kWh Blade battery allows for up to 39 km of exclusively electric driving, according to Inmetro measurements. With a full tank and charged battery, the combined range declared by the manufacturer reaches 1,100 km.

The GS version increases to 235 horsepower and features a larger battery of 18.3 kWh, with an electric range of up to 62 km. In this configuration, the Level 2 ADAS package includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot warning.

Both versions offer a 12.8-inch rotating multimedia screen, an 8.8-inch digital panel, 360-degree cameras, a 520-liter trunk, and electric rear hatch opening. The Blade battery has an eight-year warranty and the hybrid system has a six-year warranty, periods that exceed the coverage offered by most direct competitors.

How does the Song Pro position itself in the Brazilian market?

In January 2026, the Song Pro was the second best-selling hybrid in Brazil, with 2,230 units registered. It was only behind the GWM Haval H6, which recorded 2,389 sales, and ahead of the Toyota Corolla Cross, which sold 2,115 units. The three compete for the same buyer: someone looking for a mid-size SUV with electrified powertrain and a price below R$ 200,000.

BYD closed 2025 with 112,811 vehicles registered in Brazil, a growth of 522% compared to 2023. The brand entered the top 5 of the best-selling automakers in the country and projects to reach 250,000 units in 2026. The Song Pro is central to this strategy as it occupies the mid-size SUV segment, which is the most competitive and voluminous in the Brazilian market.

BYD’s dealership network already has over 210 points across all states. The brand’s advancement has shifted from a niche trend to a structural fact in the national automotive market.

What are the points that deserve attention before buying?

The PcD price of R$ 148,990 is exclusive to buyers who meet the legal exemption criteria. It is necessary to check with authorized dealerships which documents are required, which versions are available in stock, and if the delivery time meets the buyer’s needs.

The electric range of 39 km in the GL version is sufficient for short urban trips, such as commuting to and from work within a distance of up to 20 km. However, those who drive more than that on daily routes will predominantly operate in hybrid mode, which reduces the consumption advantage compared to a purely combustion model.

The charging supports up to 6.6 kW of power, which means that a full recharge of the smaller battery takes about two hours on a home wallbox. On a regular household outlet, the time increases to approximately six hours. There is no support for fast charging in direct current, something that pure electric models already offer in this price range.

The Unisoc processor of the multimedia system and the interior finish in plastic materials are compatible with the price range, but fall short of what the Toyota Corolla Cross offers in terms of cabin refinement. Those prioritizing premium finish may consider the GS version, which improves on some points but costs R$ 51 thousand more in the PcD version.

What does this price mean for the hybrid SUV market in Brazil?

The Song Pro at R$ 148,990 for PcD sets a reference that is hard to ignore. It is a medium hybrid plug-in SUV with over 220 horsepower, a combined range of 1,100 km, and a complete technology package costing less than many equipped compact hatches and sedans.

This aggressiveness pushes Toyota, GWM, and Jeep to reassess their pricing strategies and commercial conditions. The Corolla Cross XRX Hybrid, which is Toyota’s best-selling hybrid in Brazil, costs R$ 62 thousand more than the Song Pro GL for PcD and does not offer the option to drive exclusively in electric mode, as it operates with a conventional hybrid system without plug-in.

The pressure from BYD is forcing a market reorganization that directly benefits the consumer. When a hybrid plug-in SUV manufactured in Bahia costs less than an equipped 1.0 turbo hatch, the question shifts from whether it’s worth considering an electrified vehicle to why anyone would still buy a car powered exclusively by combustion in the same price range. What do you think about BYD’s car?
