Caramuru Alimentos is allocating R$2.2 billion to enhance its presence in the field of renewable fuels and bioenergy. This significant injection of capital will be directed towards six strategic areas, aiming to improve logistics infrastructure and promote sustainability. The focus of this investment is to expand the production and use of renewable fuels, strengthening Caramuru’s position in the market as a pioneer in cleaner and more accessible energy sources.
The recent sanction of the ‘Future Fuel‘ Bill (PL 528/2020) by the Federal Senate marks an important step for Brazil in advancing energy alternatives. Caramuru Alimentos, by integrating these initiatives into its portfolio, is not only consolidating its leadership in renewable fuels but also aligning itself with the guidelines of green energy. This strategy demonstrates the company’s commitment to sustainable development, promoting the use of biofuels as a viable alternative to traditional fossil fuels.

Sustainable Development and Renewable Fuels
A new era for a more sustainable energy matrix is emerging. With the establishment of national programs that actively encourage the development of renewable fuels, legislation anticipates a significant advancement in the use of ethanol, biodiesel, biogas, and other alternative energy sources. In this context, Caramuru Alimentos S.A., a 100% Brazilian company processing soybeans, corn, sunflowers, and canola, recognizes the importance of this initiative and responds firmly. The company will allocate a significant investment package totaling R$2.235 billion, distributed across six strategic areas that reinforce its participation in the bioenergy sector and in the use of renewable fuels, contributing to green energy.
Investing in Bioenergy and Infrastructure
Caramuru’s goal is clear: to align with the new legislation and demonstrate its commitment to driving this energy transformation. Among the main investment directions are: the implementation of the Soy Protein Concentrate Production Plant (SPC) in Itumbiara, Goiás. This new unit promises to process 100,000 tons annually of SPC with 62% protein, in addition to 40,000 tons of molasses with 70% BRIX. Another highlight is the partnership with Três Tentos Agroindustrial S.A. at the Rod-Hydrovian Terminal in Miritituba, Pará. This logistics infrastructure will play a crucial role in receiving and unloading trucks loaded with corn, soybeans, soybean meal, SCP, DDGS, biodiesel, and ethanol. The products will travel along the Tapajós/Amazon waterway to the ports of Pará and Amapá, serving both consumer regions and the fertilizer industry, demonstrating the potential of the National Program.
Advanced Logistics for the Fuel of the Future
This logistical investment will also enhance the efficient flow of biofuels, such as ethanol and biodiesel, key elements for promoting and advancing renewable fuels. Another innovation includes the Shiploader at the Port of Santana, Amapá, designed to optimize ship loading with a capacity of 1,100 tons per hour, reducing operational costs and loading time. Moreover, it will be essential to increase efficiency in the movement of grains and meals for international markets. These advancements ensure greater efficiency for agribusiness and simultaneously strengthen Caramuru’s sustainable development strategy and the future of renewable fuel. Additionally, in Ipameri, Goiás, Caramuru is expanding its soybean processing plant. With the capacity increase from 450,000 to 900,000 tons annually, the company will ensure that all oil used in the biodiesel plant is supplied by the unit itself, promoting integration and efficiency in the biofuel production chain.
Innovation and Sustainability in the Biofuels Sector
This strategic adjustment doubles the soybean processing capacity, ensuring essential material for biodiesel production, a crucial component for expanding the use of renewable biofuels under the new legislation. Additionally, the Pharmaceutical Glycerin Distillation Plant in Sorriso, Mato Grosso, will add value to Caramuru’s biodiesel production blond glycerin. This new investment will enable the production of 40,000 tons annually of distilled pharmaceutical glycerin. Besides adding value to internal production, this project will also process some of the glycerin from other producers in Mato Grosso, who currently export the product in natura, highlighting the importance of efficient logistical infrastructure.
Sustainable Operations and Green Energy
Focusing on sustainable development, a corn ethanol plant will be built in Nova Ubiratã, Mato Grosso, in collaboration with Biocen – Bioenergia Celeiro do Norte S.A. This partnership will give new impetus to the sector, processing 600,000 tons annually of corn to produce 280 million liters of ethanol and 175,000 tons of DDG, used in animal feed. Furthermore, the plant will be self-sustainable in electric energy, with excess electricity exported, promoting greener operations. According to Júlio Costa, CEO, ‘Bioenergy is the future not only for Brazil but for the entire global energy matrix’. Caramuru demonstrates its commitment to renewable fuels and clean energy, establishing itself as a leader in the clean energy process.
Perspectives for the Agroindustrial Sector in Brazil
These investments solidify not only Caramuru’s commitment to sustainable development but are also directly influenced by the new Future Fuel Law. This legislation enables the creation of a modern and efficient infrastructure for the flow of products and the expansion of renewable fuels production. With this robust initiative, Caramuru is more than ready to contribute further to the growth of a low-carbon economy, strengthening the Brazilian agroindustrial sector and the production of green energy. Caramuru Alimentos, one of the leading national companies in soybean, corn, sunflower, and canola processing, has a strong presence in several Brazilian states, such as Goiás, Paraná, Mato Grosso, São Paulo, Pará, and Amapá, managing a vast line of products that serve consumers throughout Brazil. In 2024, the company celebrated 60 years of experience in agribusiness and biofuels, marking its place as the seventh largest company in the country in soybean processing and the second largest in corn processing, while also being among the largest biodiesel producers, illustrating the impact of renewable fuel initiatives on logistics infrastructure, including its presence at the ports of Santos, Tubarão, and Porto de Santana, which connect its industrial units to main flow routes, strengthening multimodal transport.
