With An Increase In The Number Of Contracts, Leader Aviation Invests In Expanding Its Fleet Of Aircraft For These Operations
Accompanying the growth of the oil and gas sector in Brazil in recent years, Leader Aviation notes a strong expansion of its helicopter operations business unit, which provides services for this segment. In 2022 alone, the company experienced a 50% increase in the number of air transport contracts for the oil and gas industry. “To further enhance and diversify this operation of Leader, we invested approximately US$ 10 million in this area this year,” explains Junia Hermont, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Leader Aviation.
The company, which is a pioneer in helicopter operations for the oil and gas industry in Brazil, will expand its fleet of aircraft for this business unit by about 30% this year – to serve, among others, the new base and the new hangar operating in the state of Rio de Janeiro. “Moreover, it is worth noting that Rio accounts for about 40% of Leader’s bases for Helicopter Operations for the oil and gas industry in the country,” points out Junia.
Expertise: Flights and Landings In Complex Locations
The growth of Helicopter Operations for the oil and gas industry at Leader has been built on a solid foundation: with over 40 years of experience in this segment, the company reached, in 2021, the mark of 1 million flight hours on missions focused on this sector. In addition to having this experience, Leader invests in training and the development of systems that ensure safety and excellence in service delivery. “These air operations occur in isolated locations that require a high level of expertise. That’s why we have an extremely specialized and qualified team to carry out offshore (marine units) and onshore (land-based) air transport, aerial inspection of power transmission lines and pipelines, air medical transport, and helicopter chartering (spot flight sales),” shares Junia.
