The use of creativity in the implementation of technological projects has been an important differential, allowing Comgás to face challenges and remain at the forefront of the sector.
Innovation in the Natural Gas Sector
In 2024, a study was conducted by Valor Econômico in conjunction with Strategy&, a strategic consulting firm of PwC, to evaluate the innovation practices of Brazilian companies across various economic sectors. The real-time data collection of customer consumption implemented by Comgás through remote measurement is a remarkable example of innovation that is directly driving advancements in the natural gas sector. This innovation practice demonstrates how the modernization of operations can be achieved through technology.
Modernization in Large Industries
In large industries, telemetry has already been implemented, utilizing volume parameters, temperature and pressure to calculate gas bills. Currently, Comgás is expanding these modern technologies to commercial and residential sectors. ‘Receiving the Valor Inovação 2024 award is a significant milestone for us’, says Thiago Trevisan, IT, Innovation, and Customer Relationship Director at Comgás.
Expansion of Innovation Practices
This recognition strengthens our commitment to using technology to create innovative solutions that benefit our customers and promote the advancement of the sector. ‘At Comgás, we will continue to invest in innovation to provide more comfort, efficiency, and development to the cities where we operate and those we will integrate in the future,’ declares Trevisan.
Among Comgás’s innovation projects are Comgás 4.0, Comgás Experience, and the use of Generative AI to enhance customer experience. Through Comgás 4.0, a project initiated in 2018, the company now has a telemetry system that allows for more accurate studies on network sizing, load balancing, and investment optimization in pipelines. This technical advancement is a clear example of innovation in the sector.
Automation and Personalization
The Comgás Experience, the current innovation platform of Comgás, has been facilitating the automation of operational stages of sales, logistical processes, installations, and payments, resulting in greater agility and personalization for customers. The use of Generative AI is helping to improve customer experience and the efficiency of internal processes. Additionally, Comgás is focused on developing new projects.
The Digital Twin (digital twin) will allow for simulating complex environments and equipment in a virtual environment, avoiding unnecessary exposures during maintenance training, emergency operations, and other activities. The Remote Work project will enable remote monitoring of Comgás’s construction sites, using embedded AI and drones, providing more efficiency in operations.
