The Sustainable Development And Environmental Institute (Idema) Granted The Mining Company Belocal An Environmental License This Past Monday (05/02). Thus, The Company Is Ready To Continue Its Venture In The Baixa Branca Site, In The Municipality Of Baraúna, Located In The State Of Rio Grande Do Norte, For The Exploration Of Limestone In The Region.

After A Long Analysis Of The Region And Inspections Of The Operations Of The Mining Company Belocal, The Company Finally Obtained The Environmental License From Idema, Necessary For The Start Of The Venture. Now, Belocal Can Begin Its Limestone Exploration Operations To Expand Its Presence In The Mining Sector In Brazil, Focusing On The Reserves Of The Baraúna Region In Rio Grande Do Norte.

The Search For The Idema License Has Been Ongoing For Several Months By The Company Belocal. Additionally, The Public Hearing For The Project’s Viability Was Held On December 8, 2021, When The Environmental Impact Study And The Corresponding Environmental Impact Report Were Presented And Discussed. However, Idema Was Able To Verify All Requirements In The Company’s Operations And Granted The License Based On The Resolution Of The National Environment Council – Conama No. 01/86 And 09/87.

The Company’s Limestone Exploration Venture Will Be Essential For Utilizing The Mining Reserves Of The Potiguar Region

The Baraúna Region Is Rich In Mineral Reserves And Is One Of The Major Potiguar Hubs For Mining Activities. The Area Is Within The Apodi Group, Situated In The Range Of Deposition Of Sediments In An Extensive Tidal Plain And A Shallow, Carbonate Platform. Thus, This Region Has A High Tendency For Mineral Reserves Such As Limestone, Which Is The Main Focus Of Belocal In The Mining Venture Being Developed In Baraúna And Is Expected To Start Soon After Idema’s Licensing.

Therefore, The General Director Of Idema, Leon Aguiar, Commented On The Importance Of The Growth Of Mining In The Region And The Development Of Yet Another Venture Focused On The Exploration Of Minerals Such As Limestone In The Potiguar State. The Executive Further Stated That “We Are Expanding Mining Within The State And Strengthening The Region’s Economy. The Installation Of This Venture Is Another Result Of The Actions Of The RN Government To Attract New Investments In The Mining Sector Within The State In The Coming Years.”
