Neoenergia Benefits Communities in the Region of the Chafariz Wind Farm Complex (PB) with the Installation of Solar Panels and Expansion of Renewable Energy in the Region
The Chafariz Wind Farm Complex consists of 15 wind farms located in the municipalities of Santa Luzia, Areia de Baraúnas, São Mamed, São José do Sabugi, and Junco do Seridó (PB), all in the hinterland of Paraíba. Once operational, the project will have an installed capacity of 471 MW of renewable energy, thanks to the 136 wind turbines, one of the most modern and efficient on the market, with blades about 65 meters long.

More Wind Energy with Neoenergia in 2022
The 15 wind farms under construction by Neoenergia are expected to be completed by 2022. Along with Santa Luzia, located in the same region, the complex will be one of the largest in the country and one of the biggest for the company worldwide.
Social Commitment
The Chafariz Wind Farm Complex in Paraíba brings benefits through various initiatives from Neoenergia. Among them is support for the Community Association of Black Potters of Serra do Talhado, an entity formed by women from the Quilombola Community of Serra do Talhado Urbana in Santa Luzia (PB), which produces clay pieces such as pots and vases.

Advancement in renewable energy: A R$ 150 million project launched by Petrobras and Finep aims to create state-of-the-art electrolyzers for green hydrogen, strengthening national research and preparing Brazil to compete in a billion-dollar energy market.

Illiterate or semi-literate grandmothers were trained to repair solar systems, open rural workshops, and light up homes that still depended on kerosene.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.

Africa has about 500,000 cell towers and most still burn diesel to operate, while companies rush to cover antennas with solar energy and avoid signal blackouts.
The support from the Paraíba plant was in the reformulation of the visual identity, providing greater visibility to the work done by the artisans. Neoenergia’s initiative produced various promotional materials with the new logo, including banners, business cards, and letterhead, as well as a entrepreneurship course that will be held in 2021.
Professional qualification of residents is another socioeconomic commitment in which Neoenergia stands out. In January 2020, vocational courses were conducted for civil construction activities such as masonry, carpentry, assembly, and basic electricity, in partnership with SENAI, to train the local workforce, focusing on future hiring for the project.
