MRV Construction Advances With Its Sustainability Plan Until 2030 and Is Inaugurating a Solar Photovoltaic Plant in Bahia That Has 800 Solar Panels
MRV Construction inaugurated its new solar photovoltaic plant this Monday (21) in the municipality of Lapão, Bahia. The plant has the capacity to generate 490 Megawatt-hours annually, which is enough to power almost half of the population of the municipality, which has 27,000 inhabitants. A total of about 800 solar panels were installed over an area of 3,200 square meters, which could generate savings of R$ 300,000 per year.
Energy From the Solar Photovoltaic Plant in Bahia Will Be Allocated for Supplying MRV Units
According to MRV Construction, a large part of the energy generated by the solar photovoltaic plant will be directed toward supplying energy to the company’s units such as construction sites, offices, stores, and other physical structures in the company’s portfolio. However, MRV Construction states that, by the end of the year, some customers will also be able to benefit from the use of renewable energy.
The solar plant in Bahia is the company’s second solar photovoltaic plant. The first one is located in Uberaba, Minas Gerais, and has been operational since November 2020, generating over 1,000,000 kilowatt-hours annually.

While Europe and the United States rush to save their own solar chains, China already dominates more than 80% of the global manufacturing of solar panels and has turned the sun into an industrial machine controlled by Beijing that is redefining the global energy transition.
The plant has 2,000 solar panels that represent a capacity of 700 kWp. This energy is sufficient to meet the demand of 25,000 residents of a city for 1 month, or 2,000 residents annually.
MRV’s Solar Power Plants in Bahia and Minas Gerais Focus on the Company’s 2030 Vision
At the time, Raphael Lafetá, executive director of institutional and sustainable relations at MRV Construction, stated that the company aims to transform the world, not only to help thousands of people leave rental situations and have a home but also through actions that go beyond that, always seeking to invest in and promote sustainable development in the regions where it operates.
The solar photovoltaic plant is aligned with this thinking and affirms what the company proposes in the MRV 2030 vision, an action plan developed to achieve the sustainable development goals set by the UN for 2030. Minas Gerais was chosen to host the first plant because there is a high energy demand in the state, as well as favorable regulations for the project’s installation and high solar incidence in the region.
The MRV Construction expects savings of R$ 800,000 per year, in addition to socio-environmental gains such as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and obtaining clean energy.
