New Electric Corsa Has Been Announced And Will Feature Similar Design To The Previous Model And A Range Of 400 Km. The Vehicle Is Expected To Hit The European Market By 2023.
With its great success in the national market, the latest generation of the Opel Corsa has been sold since 2019. For two years, the compact car has been dominating its sector in Germany with excellent sales figures. And to continue the good results for a few more years, the Rüsselsheim-based company presents the facelift of its vehicle.
New Electric Corsa Is About To Hit The Market
The most significant change is the so-called Vizor, which, after the Astra, Crossland, and the Grandland, can now be seen on the Corsa. From now on, the headlights are integrated into the electric car, which can be optionally ordered as LED matrix units, now with 14 instead of 8 elements.
Below the headlights of the Electric Corsa, the air intakes are larger in the new version. Its rear features the name moved to the center of the tailgate, and a new paint color called “Graphic Grey” has also been added to the lineup.

Inside the vehicle, the innovations are somewhat more extensive. The Opel added some new seat patterns, as well as a new design for the gear lever and steering wheel. Now, a fully digital cockpit with the new information and entertainment system can be ordered for the Corsa.
The integrated Snapdragon Cockpit platform from Qualcomm Technologies makes possible enhanced graphic displays with artificial intelligence functions, natural voice recognition via “Hey Opel,” and over-the-air updates. Additionally, the displays on the 10-inch color touchscreen, driver’s instrument cluster, and multimedia have been revised.
Electric Corsa Delivers 136 Horsepower
For the first time, compatible smartphones with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay can be connected wirelessly and also charged. Furthermore, there are assistance systems designed to make maneuvering and driving more comfortable.
The systems range from the new rearview panoramic camera, intelligent cruise control, and speed limiter, to collision warning protection with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection.
The Electric Corsa doesn’t only feature a new name, but also a new propulsion system. The current model with 100 kW, or 136 horsepower, remains in the lineup and now has a WLTP range of 257 km, giving it a slightly longer operational range of 345 km.
The electric car can be ordered with 115 kW, equivalent to 156 horsepower, torque of 26.5 kgfm, and an expanded 54 kWh battery. This engine is already known from the Corsa, Jeep Avenger, Peugeot e-208, and will also be used in the Mokka Electric and Astra electric in the future.
However, the Corsa is equipped with a new electric set, capable of achieving a WLTP range of 402 km. The battery can be charged quickly from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes using a fast-charging station.
Electric Car Expected To Arrive In Europe By The End Of 2023
Another novelty of the facelift is the partially electrified option of the combustion engine with a 48-volt system. For example, the two 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo gasoline engines with 100 to 130 horsepower will be offered in the future with light hybrid support, which can be combined with a new dual-clutch transmission.
The expectation is that the new vehicle will hit the European dealerships before the end of the year. However, no exact date has been announced yet. Pricing will also be revealed soon.
