The Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Sergipe (IFS) opened registrations for the selection process of Initial and Continuing Education (FIC) courses, according to the Announcement. This opportunity is ideal for those seeking professional training and improvement, especially in the language area, with the offering of the course “Basic Spanish” in distance learning mode (EAD). A total of 90 slots are offered, distributed among the campuses of Aracaju, Lagarto, and Tobias Barreto.
Course Objective and Workload
The “Basic Spanish” course aims to provide basic training in the language, preparing students to interact in everyday situations. The Spanish course is entirely online (EAD), featuring synchronous (live) classes and asynchronous activities. The total workload is 160 hours, spread over 20 weeks. Synchronous meetings will take place once a week, with two different schedules, depending on the chosen campus.
Available Slots and Offering Locations
IFS is offering a total of 90 slots for the “Basic Spanish” course, with 30 slots for each campus:

- Aracaju Campus: 30 slots, afternoon shift (Tuesdays, from 4 PM to 6 PM).
- Lagarto Campus: 30 slots, evening shift (Mondays, from 7 PM to 9 PM).
- Tobias Barreto Campus: 30 slots, afternoon shift (Wednesdays, from 4 PM to 6 PM).
Selection Processes
The selection will be carried out through a public electronic draw, ensuring impartiality and transparency. The draw will be recorded and streamed on the official IFS YouTube channel. All candidates will have a registration number assigned at the time of registration, and the list of registered candidates will be disclosed before the draw. Additionally, there will be reserved slots for quotas, allowing self-declared black, brown, indigenous candidates, and people with disabilities who have completed high school in public schools to compete for specific slots.
Registration Requirements
To enroll in the Spanish course, the candidate must have completed or be currently completing high school. Furthermore, access to the internet and a device such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer is necessary to attend classes and complete activities. Registrations are free and conducted exclusively online.
