Unprecedented Initiative in the State Aims to Train Professionals Working in Delivery and Passenger Transport Apps, with a Workload of 10 Hours/Class and Distribution of Protective Equipment at No Cost
The government of Rio Grande do Norte announced on Monday (15) the opening of registrations for the first class of the training course aimed at motorcyclists working in apps. In this initial phase, there are 120 free slots targeted at professionals who use motorcycles as their main work tool.
Classes for the first group will take place between September 22 and 25, with 60 participants per shift. The total workload will be 10 hours/class, divided between theoretical and practical content. According to the project, the goal is to qualify 600 workers throughout the next stages, reinforcing safety on the roads and work conditions for drivers.

According to information released by the RN government, motorcyclists who complete 100% of the workload will receive a free personal protective equipment (PPE) kit, consisting of helmet, reflective vest, gloves, and arm sleeves.

The syllabus includes classes on traffic legislation, worker health and safety, defensive driving, preventive riding, and conscious riding techniques. The objective is to provide comprehensive training focused on reducing accident risks and strengthening safety for both drivers and the general population.
“The proposal is to train workers involved in the transportation of goods and passengers, protecting the health of motorcyclists, passengers, and other people who circulate in traffic,” the government highlighted in an official statement as published by G1.
Who Can Participate in the Training Course
To register, candidates must meet some basic prerequisites, such as:
- Be over 18 years old;
- Possess a National Driver’s License (CNH) category A;
- Have a connection with app platforms for at least six months;
- Use a motorcycle as the primary work tool;
- Be available to participate in all stages of the course.
Motorcyclists with formal employment links via CLT can also register. However, those who work exclusively with apps for transporting people or deliveries will be given priority in selection.
Where Classes Will Be Held
Activities will take place at different locations in the city of Natal. In the North Zone, the theoretical part will be taught at the University of the State of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN), while practical classes will occur at the Potiguar Honda headquarters, located on Dr. João Medeiros Filho Avenue.
In the West Zone, the theoretical meetings will be at the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU), in the Dix-Sept Rosado neighborhood. The practical section will be conducted at Detran-RN, located in Cidade da Esperança.
The course is the result of a partnership between Sesap and Detran-RN, along with the Labor Prosecutor’s Office, which funds the training, in addition to the Municipal Health Department, STTU of Natal, the Conscious Traffic NGO, and Honda Potiguar.
