Structure of the Technical Course in Translation and Interpretation of LIBRAS
The program has a duration of two years, focused on the comprehensive development of skills in LIBRAS, including practical and applied theory.
The blended format allows for flexibility, while maintaining essential in-person meetings for practical activities.
Some of these meetings may occur on Saturdays, ensuring adaptation to the student’s routine.
Available Slots and Selection Criteria
The Technical Course in Translation and Interpretation of LIBRAS offers 60 slots, combining opportunities for open competition and social inclusion policies.
Of the total, 29 slots are allocated for open competition, while the remaining slots are reserved for graduates of public schools, low-income individuals, black, brown, indigenous people, and individuals with disabilities.
This distribution reinforces the course’s commitment to promoting diversity and expanding access to professional training in LIBRAS.
Essential Requirement for Entering the Federal Institute
A key point for candidates is to prove prior knowledge of LIBRAS.
For this, there are two options: present a certificate of basic LIBRAS course with a minimum load of 180 hours or undergo an evaluation board, which confirms proficiency in Brazilian Sign Language.
The selection process caters to two student profiles. In the concurrent category, students currently in 11th or 12th grade at another school may enroll.
In the subsequent category, the course is open to those who have already completed high school and wish to obtain technical qualification.
With this structure, the course is able to accommodate both young students still in school and professionals seeking specialization, ensuring solid and inclusive training in the field of translation and interpretation in LIBRAS.
Classification Criteria
The selection does not include a written test. Classification will be based on the average grades in Portuguese Language and Mathematics from high school, considering the three years of study.
Therefore, it is essential that the candidate has their school transcripts on hand to fill out the form correctly.
Open Enrollments
Enrollments for the Technical Course in Translation and Interpretation of LIBRAS at the Federal Institute of Northern Minas Gerais are free and will be accepted until 12/22/2025, at 11:59 PM, conducted exclusively online.
Classes will start in the first semester of 2026, at the Governador Valadares Campus, providing solid training for those who wish to work in the social and professional inclusion of deaf individuals.
