Jeep, traditionally known for the ruggedness of its off-road vehicles, recognized the need to cater to an audience seeking a compact SUV more suited for urban environments. Thus, the Jeep Renegade was born, a model that quickly captured the Brazilian market, especially in the diesel engine version, remaining among the best sellers. However, with the constant evolution of the automotive market, a question arises: is it still worth investing in a used Jeep Renegade for less than R$ 66 thousand in 2024? What Is The Best Version Of The Used Jeep Renegade?

The most successful version is the Longitude 1.8 Flex, with the E.torQ that delivers 132/130 hp, a maximum power figure maintained until the 2016 model year, combined with a six-speed sequential automatic transmission. It is a great option for those in no rush, as it delivers 0 to 100 km/h in 15.3 seconds, and its fuel consumption isn’t the best, delivering 10.2 km/l in the city and 12.5 km/l on the highway.

However, it is in the build quality that the diesel engine SUV stands out. The interior features soft-touch materials on the dashboard and doors, and well-fitted parts, far superior to rivals like the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.

Standard equipment on the used Jeep Renegade includes paddle shifters on the steering wheel, dual-zone digital air conditioning, stability control, multifunctional leather steering wheel with height and depth adjustments, fog lights, electric parking brake, cruise control, touchscreen multimedia system, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Optional features include leather seats, Beats audio system, tire pressure monitoring system, driver’s seat with power adjustments, panoramic sunroof, side airbags, curtain airbags, knee airbags, and 18-inch wheels.

Another Interesting Version Of The Diesel Engine SUV In The Used Market

For many, the best version of the used Jeep Renegade is the Sport 1.8 Flex with a five-speed manual transmission, which offers lower consumption and greater agility.

This version includes air conditioning, split-folding rear seats, key fob with remote, multifunction steering wheel, trip computer, ESP, power windows, electric parking brake, disc brakes on all four wheels, rear parking sensor, 16-inch alloy wheels, and a sound system with six speakers.

For those who value performance and comfort, there is also the Longitude 2.0 turbodiesel option of the diesel engine SUV, with 170 hp and 35.7 kgfm, nine-speed automatic transmission, and 4×4 traction. This mechanical set is also available in the Sport configuration.

The used Jeep Renegade that best lives up to the brand is the Trailhawk, always diesel, with a suspension 2.07 cm higher, underbody protection plates, all-terrain tires, and SelecTerrain traction with five terrain selections.

Main Defects

Despite being a great vehicle to buy in 2024, it is essential to pay attention to some details of the used Jeep Renegade. Common in the early units, the key may get stuck in the ignition cylinder due to a solenoid valve malfunction that operates the safety latch.

The high weight of the powertrain compromises the durability of the front suspension. The wear allows excessive variation in geometry during acceleration, identified by reactions in the steering wheel.

The 1.8 E.torQ is known for oil leaks, especially at the triangular gasket located between the filter support and the block. Other chronic leak points include the oil pan gasket and the pulley seal.
