2-Meter Waves And Strong Winds, Caused By A Cyclone, Led The Navy To Close The Access Channels To The Ports Of Itajaí And Navegantes, In Santa Catarina, Preventing, So Far, A Container Ship From Maneuvering
Last Wednesday (21), due to bad weather, the Navy closed the access channels to the ports of Itajaí and Navegantes, on the North Coast of Santa Catarina. According to the corporation, the sea is rough, with waves of approximately 2 meters, caused by a cyclone. The closure of the ports of Santa Catarina occurred around 10 a.m. The strong winds and wave height in the vicinity made it impossible for ships with containers to maneuver. 16 maneuvers are scheduled for the ports until Saturday (24), and so far, one of them has been suspended, with no precision on when normality will return.

Ports Of Santa Catarina Without Reopening Forecast
The Port Captaincy Delegation will carry out a new assessment of the meteorological conditions, however, the information that has reached the ports indicates that there are still navigational risks. Three cables snapped while a ship was maneuvering the containers during the early hours of Thursday (22) at the Port of Imbituba.
The Civil Defense of Santa Catarina had already warned that the subtropical cyclone would bring a risk of swell along the coast. According to Leandro Puchalski, meteorologist, the cyclone is about 450 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
