Trump And Xi Jinping Tighten Ties As US Agriculture Wages War Against Brazilian Meat And Soybean To Compete For Chinese Market.

US Opens Offensive Against Brazilian Soybean And Meat Amid Trump–Xi Jinping Thawing

The Pressure From US Agriculture Against Brazilian Soybean And Meat Gained Traction This Week.

American cattle ranchers and farmers launched a campaign to weaken Brazil’s presence in the international market, especially in China, the main destination for Brazilian exports.

Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping confirmed a meeting for this Friday (19), at a location yet to be disclosed, intensifying the geopolitical movement surrounding agricultural trade.

Brazilian Meat And Soybean At The Center Of The Dispute

The offensive began with US ranchers denouncing Brazilian beef as “unfair” competition. Now, North American farmers are also targeting soybean.

The argument is clear: Brazil has taken the global lead in soybean exports, leaving Americans in the background.

To make matters worse, Beijing has not reserved purchases from the American harvest, increasing fears of a definitive loss of market share in China.

Concern In The US: Brazil Advances And Dominates China

The major concern in Washington is the strength of Brazilian soybean.

Today, Brazil ships large volumes of soybean and meal to Shanghai, securing a strategic position in the animal feed chain, vital for China’s pork and chicken production.

The Americans, even with a good harvest, cannot compete.

As a result, the narrative that Brazil advances “at the expense of deforestation” has gained traction in internal debates in the US and investigations by the US Trade Representative.

Trade War Goes Beyond Tariffs

The dispute goes beyond tariffs. It involves political, environmental, and diplomatic pressure. Brazilian beef has also become a target, strengthening the rural lobby in the US.

Analysts see a clear strategy: to hinder Brazilian products by associating them with environmental damage—even when production follows the Forest Code.

Trump And Xi Jinping: Strategic Meeting

In parallel to the rural offensive, diplomats from Washington and Beijing met in Madrid this Thursday (18), paving the way for the direct meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping.

Trump’s representative, Scott Bessent, even announced an agreement between the two countries regarding TikTok, indicating that the meeting goes beyond agriculture and also touches on technology and digital security.

Brazil In The Line Of Fire

Meanwhile, in The New York Times, Lula openly criticized Trump, raising political tensions.

In Europe, Emmanuel Macron maintains opposition to the Mercosur–European Union agreement, tightening the diplomatic squeeze against Brazil.

The message is clear: with Trump approaching Xi Jinping and the US attacking Brazilian meat and soybean, Brazil needs to strengthen its external strategy to avoid losing ground on the global chessboard.

Conclusion: The Warning To Brazil

The American offensive is not just commercial. It is also political.

Moreover, the advancement of Brazilian soybean and meat bothers US producers.
At the same time, the rapprochement between Trump and Xi Jinping could change the course of the global market.

Therefore, as an observer in Washington said: “friends, friends; business, apart.”
