Missing child was found on the side of Interstate 10 in Louisiana during investigation into the death of the older brother and the disappearance of the two boys.
A truck driver experienced an unexpected scene in Louisiana, United States, when he found a 1-year-old baby crawling alone on the side of Interstate 10.
At first, the driver thought he saw an abandoned doll near the highway. As he approached, he realized it was a living child, identified as Kingtrail.
The case caught the attention of the authorities because the boy had been missing for almost two days. During this period, he was exposed to rain, wind, and conditions caused by Hurricane Beryl.

Search began after brother’s body was found
The investigation began after authorities located the body of Legend, 4 years old, Kingtrail’s older brother, in a lake near the Texas border.
Relatives contacted the police shortly after and informed them that Legend had a younger brother who was missing. From there, the agents also began searching for the baby.
Reports gathered in the investigation indicate that the two boys had last been seen with their mother, Aaliyah Jack, 25 years old.
The family was trying to understand the children’s whereabouts. According to relatives, Aaliyah was facing financial difficulties and had temporarily left the children in the care of their grandmothers.
Truck driver changed the course of the searches on the highway
On the following morning, the police were preparing to expand the search when a call changed the course of the case.
A truck driver informed the authorities that he had seen a baby on the side of Interstate 10. According to a report given to the local station KPLC, the boy was sitting on an embankment.
The driver approached and noticed that the child reacted to his presence. First, the baby smiled. Then, he began to cry and walked towards him.
By holding the child’s hand, the truck driver managed to calm him down. Shortly after, police arrived at the scene and confirmed it was the missing baby.
The baby’s survival surprised authorities
Kingtrail spent almost two days in an open area, under difficult weather conditions, according to Sheriff Gary Guillory.
Despite exposure to bad weather, the child showed only insect bites and few apparent injuries. The state of health surprised the rescue teams.
“We consider this baby a miracle because he was still alive,” said Guillory during a press conference.
The sheriff also highlighted that the rescue only occurred because the truck driver noticed something strange on the side of the road and decided to check it out.
Mother was arrested in Mississippi during investigation
The police reported that Aaliyah Jack was arrested in Mississippi, more than 500 kilometers from the area where the children were found.
She was charged with failing to report a child’s disappearance. According to the investigation, the mother is trying to avoid extradition to Louisiana.
Examinations are ongoing to clarify the circumstances of Legend’s death. As informed by the authorities so far, there were no confirmed signs of violence.
The children’s grandmother, Conswella Jack, stated she was happy for Kingtrail’s survival. At the same time, she declared she was devastated by the death of her other grandson.
Family tries to obtain custody of Kingtrail
Kingtrail was discharged from the hospital after medical treatment. Even so, the child remains in State custody while the case proceeds in court.
The grandmother is trying to gain custody of the boy. The investigation is also seeking to reconstruct the mother’s last steps and understand how the siblings ended up separated.
The case continues to mobilize the Louisiana police and gained attention due to the child’s unexpected survival.
After all, how did a baby of only 1 year manage to survive for almost two days alone, under rain, wind, and by the side of a busy highway?
