The U.S. Department of Efficiency, Led by Elon Musk, Is Seeking New Talents; Know the Desired Profile
Billionaire Elon Musk was appointed by Donald Trump to lead the future U.S. Government Efficiency Department, a new entity that will be established at the beginning of the next administration. Musk has committed to ensuring “maximum transparency” in his activities at the helm of the agency.
The elected president announced that Musk will share this leadership with entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. The new department, as communicated by Trump, aims to help the government “dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce unnecessary regulations, eliminate superfluous spending, and restructure federal agencies.”
Additionally, the initiative seeks to bring perspectives from outside the White House to create an “entrepreneurial approach in public administration.”

Built in 1773 by two rival British inventors, the mechanical Silver Swan still works perfectly 253 years later inside the Bowes Museum, in the English county of Durham, without any electric motor, powered only by clock springs wound once a day, and Mark Twain described it in Paris in 1867 as a creature with lively eyes.

57 years and one day ago, the Soviet probe Venera 6 traversed the clouds of Venus for 51 minutes under parachutes and stopped transmitting 10 kilometers from the surface because the pressure of 60 bar and the heat of 320 degrees Celsius crushed its 405-kilogram hull, and no space agency has managed to replicate the feat to this day.
Recently, an unusual job announcement caught attention on the social media: Elon Musk, in partnership with Vivek Ramaswamy, began searching for talents for the newly created Government Efficiency Department (DOGE).
Although it seems to be an official entity, DOGE is not part of the U.S. government and was announced as a group that will operate “outside the government” to reduce federal spending.

Who Does Elon Musk Want to Hire?
The announcement on X (formerly Twitter), a platform owned by Musk, did not mention specific educational requirements or professional experience. Instead, it highlighted a very characteristic profile: “Revolutionaries of small government with super high IQs, willing to work over 80 hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting.”
In other words, Musk and Ramaswamy want dedicated individuals who can think outside the box and have a passion for efficiency and cost savings in public spending. The message also excludes “part-time idea generators,” indicating a preference for highly committed individuals willing to sacrifice for the project.
How to Apply for the DOGE?
The initial post stated that interested individuals should send their resumes via direct message to the DOGE account on X. However, the application process faced a series of setbacks.
Initially, direct messages were not enabled, and only verified accounts or those followed by the DOGE account could send messages. This raised doubts among users about how the application process would actually work.
Furthermore, Elon Musk and Ramaswamy made it clear that only the “top 1% of applicants” would have their resumes personally reviewed. The selection is expected to be rigorous and selective, reinforcing the seriousness of the initiative, even with some initial flaws in the communication system.
And the Compensation?
In response to those questioning the salary amount, Musk stated that the 80-hour work week would actually be voluntary, meaning without any financial compensation. He even joked: “Indeed, this will be a tedious job, it will make many enemies, and compensation will be zero. What a great deal!”
This type of response generated mixed reactions on the platform. While some supporters of Elon Musk and Trump applauded the initiative to donate time and energy to a “greater cause,” others took the opportunity to make jokes. Among the most humorous comments, a user asked: “Anything over 40 hours will be paid as overtime, right?”
The Users’ Reaction
The reception of the announcement was as peculiar as the job itself. Some users responded with a dose of sarcasm. Others commented on their “unique” skills, such as “can burp the alphabet” or “run among the top 25% fastest in class.”
Despite seeming like a joke to some, the concept behind DOGE reflects a trend of radical change in the public sector. They believe that efficiency should be prioritized above all, and that the government should operate with minimal resources and maximum results. It’s a philosophy that attracts both critics and enthusiastic supporters.
