The Mayor of the City of Macaé Informed That with the Bill, There Will Be Fewer Taxes, Leading to More Power Plants in the Municipality
The ALERJ – Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio, approved yesterday Wednesday (10), a bill that will grant tax incentives to companies or consortia installing thermoelectric plants in Rio. Therefore, the mayor of Macaé, Welberth Rezende, announced on his social media on Facebook that, with the collection of differentiated fees and auctions for thermoelectric plants by Aneel, the city can become the largest energy hub in the country.
Tax Incentives with the Bill on Thermoelectric Plants
The bill provides that tax incentives will be applied to companies participating in the next auction of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), provided they have obtained prior environmental licensing.
This regulation prohibits the inclusion of irregular associations in the national tax registry, debts with national finances, debts involving their partners, or national registrations that have been canceled or suspended.

Among the tax incentives stipulated in the text, materials must be unloaded at the ports of Rio de Janeiro. Machinery, equipment, and parts, as long as imported and unloaded at the ports or airports of Rio de Janeiro, will receive special taxation.
New Thermoelectric Plants in Macaé
This year of 2021, 14 thermoelectric plants will be auctioned by Aneel – National Electric Energy Agency, and with this, the municipality of Macaé has the opportunity to become the largest energy hub in Brazil, as low fees make it easier to acquire new thermoelectric plants.
