Located in the City of Extrema in Minas Gerais, the BWP Business Park Will Invest in the Construction of the Third Largest Logistics Center in the Country

Through the Investment and Foreign Trade Promotion Agency of Minas Gerais (Indi), the MG government announced that it has attracted another major investment to the south of the state: the third largest logistics center in the country, the BWP Business Park – Extrema. The initiative will generate R$ 750 million and create 6,500 direct jobs. Two e-commerce logistics parks will be established, totaling eight warehouses built on 400,000 square meters of Gross Leasable Area (GLA), equivalent to 38 soccer fields. New Venture That Will Generate Jobs in Minas Gerais

The two condominiums that will host the ventures are under construction. The first warehouse of Project 1 will be delivered this month, and the warehouses from Project 2 by mid-2022. The formalization protocol of the investment has been signed, and the project is ongoing, reaffirming the Government of Minas Gerais’ commitment to resuming economic development in the state.

The State Secretary of Economic Development, Fernando Passalio, highlights that Indi has been working to show developers of e-commerce and logistics operators the potential of Minas Gerais. “This investment further consolidates Extrema as one of the major national e-commerce hubs, as the municipality provides the infrastructure to enhance all this logistical storage capacity and production flow. The initiative paves the way for other initiatives and follows the successful trend of the municipality and all of Minas Gerais in attracting new companies,” explains the secretary.

The Choice of Location and More About the Project

Regarded as the main e-commerce hub, the municipality of Extrema has a privileged location, with exclusive access to the Fernão Dias highway and connection points to large consumer centers. The Director of Investment Attraction at Indi, Adriano Carvalho, states that the venture consolidates the city as a major logistics center for e-commerce, both in Minas Gerais and Brazil, as the municipality accounts for 25% of the sector’s activity in the country.

The project led by BlackWall, a resource capture consultancy and Real State, has Diase as the construction company specializing in distribution centers and industries and carries the signature of architect Alcindo Dell’Agnese, who has a portfolio of major ventures throughout Brazil. The two condominiums that will generate jobs are considered cutting-edge projects in the country, with warehouses that capture photovoltaic energy and water reuse technology, in addition to modern architecture based on international sustainability parameters and international certification, LEED Gold, which promises to revolutionize the logistics market in Southern Minas Gerais, according to BlackWall’s CEO, Bernardo Werneck.

Infracommerce, the company responsible for the e-commerce operation of giants like Nike, Ambev, Unilever, Motorola, Ray Ban, and other national and international brands has just started operations in Extrema, in Southern Minas Gerais. The inauguration of the distribution center (DC) will generate around 300 direct jobs and could reach over 500 during the Black Friday commercial event.

According to him, the choice of Extrema in Minas Gerais was made due to the combination of factors such as strategic location, given that the city is close to large consumer centers, the existence of tax incentives for some clients, which helps the viability of the operation, and the fact that Minas Gerais represents the third largest consumption hub among the 260 clients of the company.
