Shortly after offshore energy, that is, deep-sea energy, had its regulations in Brazil, projects began to emerge much more rapidly. The state of Ceará was the main pioneer of this new modality, with the project of the Maritime Wind Farm, located in Acaraú, one of the municipalities on the West Coast of the state.
One of these investments expected in offshore wind energy is in an imminent process, as the signing of a memorandum is about to happen.
This investment can be considered one of the largest in the history of the state. The major enterprise in Ceará in the wind sector, which continues to receive many investments, is still on the order of 50 billion reais, also relying on the subsidy from the Macquarie investment fund from Australia, in partnership with the Ceará-based Servtec.
Lauro Fiúza, director of Servtec, stated to Diário do Nordeste – the outlet where the original article by Victor Ximenes was published – that only a few details remain to be adjusted so that the signing of this protocol for the installation of the offshore wind farm can be completed as soon as possible. According to Lauro, this protocol will be fully aligned with trends abroad regarding ESG, an acronym used to denote the commitment of companies in environmental, social, and governance sectors.

Saudi Arabia is building in Oxagon a US$ 8.4 billion mega green hydrogen plant with 4 GW of solar and wind energy, 5.6 million solar panels, and capacity to produce 600 tons per day, transforming the desert into one of the planet’s largest clean fuel factories.

Germany and Denmark will transform Bornholm into a Baltic power island, connecting 3 GW of offshore wind power to the grids of the two countries via submarine cables and turning a real island into an international energy hub.

A BRICS country surprises the world, doubles electricity generation in just 7 years, nears 9,800 MW, and becomes one of Africa’s new bets in renewable energy.
Another point that deserves emphasis is the offshore wind farm in Ceará, which has installations of more than 200 wind towers, each with a generator of about 15MW, contributing to the recognition that the Northeast receives in its wind energy sectors.
The Australian Macquarie will provide the necessary amount of capital for the execution of offshore wind energy projects and has experience in similar projects. “They are developing 21 GW of offshore wind farms in Europe and Asia,” says Fiúza.
This wind farm will be built 20 kilometers off the coast of Ceará, at Pecém port, and will have the capacity to produce around 3.8 GW of energy, equivalent to 3,480 M. The main intention of the project is to meet the demand of the green hydrogen hub, expected to be installed in the Pacém Complex, which had the inauguration of its second unit announced for February.
Brazil has a huge potential for energy generation from renewable sources, at least 11 times greater than the entire current capacity. The problem is that there is no domestic demand for all of this. With hydrogen, that changes, because we can produce and export this energy,” explains the director.
