Test area opened by Embraer is next to the asphalt runway of the Gavião Peixoto unit, where the assembly line of the giant C-390 military jet is located
The giant C-390 military freighter enters the testing phase. The news is that, in order to carry out the evaluations of the twin-engine jet, the largest jet manufacturer in Brazil, Embraer, built a dirt runway of 1.800 meters in recent days, parallel to the existing one at the Gavião Peixoto unit.

Embraer released an interesting video with a compilation of beautiful images referring to each of the certification goals and milestones achieved so far by the largest aircraft ever designed in the history of the aeronautical industry in Brazil, the C-390 Millennium.

Demonstrating capability in any environment is key to convincing potential customers of the giant military jet
The C-390 Millennium is a competitor to the Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules, which offers the main advantages of a higher cruising speed thanks to the V2500 turbofan engines and a payload that is also higher than the famous turboprop.
However, Embraer aircraft are often confronted with alleged limitations regarding their performance, such as in certain low-speed flight regimes or operation on unprepared runways due to the ingestion of debris in the engines.
For reasons like this, the demonstration of capacity in any environment is essential to convince potential customers of the C-390 Millennium to close deals with Embraer, in addition, of course, to complying with the certification requirements.
Brazil, Portugal and Hungary have already ordered the C-390 aircraft from Embraer
The C-390 program is experiencing a very significant setback with the announcement that the Brazilian Air Force will reduce its order of 28 aircraft, due to budget constraints. In addition, the FAB stated that it should extend the delivery schedule.
The Brazilian government, however, has not yet revealed how many aircraft will remain under contract, but it is thought that the order will be cut by around half.
In addition to Brazil, only Portugal (5 aircraft) and Hungary (2 aircraft) have ordered the C-390 so far.
