ACCIONA offers a recruitment and training program for women. The initiative encompasses job opportunities in civil construction, in addition to technical and qualifying courses in the area

ACCIONA chose the International Day of Women in Engineering, celebrated on June 23, to launch its Women in Construction program, aimed at hiring women for the works on Line 6-Orange of the São Paulo subway, where the job vacancies opened by the company seek to increase the percentage of women on the front line and in leadership at the construction sites, in addition to already working to ensure that 80% of the positions in the stave factory on the job site are occupied by women.

“We know how competitive the market is and the difficulty that some women face in selection processes when they are unable to get a job due to lack of qualifications or experience. Therefore, we will support their qualification and provide them with new opportunities, promoting greater diversity in our hiring processes” explains Maria Castroviejo, responsible for the Organization, Talent and Health area at ACCIONA in Brazil.

Over the past ten years, the number of female professionals in leadership positions at ACCIONA worldwide has risen from 14,5% in 2011 to 21,6% in 2021, thanks to programs created to boost gender diversity within the company , which demonstrates the company's commitment to this topic.

About the University Line or Line 6-Orange in São Paulo

Linha Universidade is responsible for the construction and implementation of Line 6-Orange of the São Paulo subway. The new branch line will be 15 kilometers long, have 15 stations and will connect the Brasilândia region – in the north zone – to the São Joaquim Station – in the central region of the city – reducing to just 23 minutes a journey that is currently made by bus in about a half hour. The line should transport more than 633 passengers per day.

The largest infrastructure project currently underway in Latin America, the project is a public-private partnership (PPP) between the Government of the State of São Paulo and Concessionária Linha Universidade, in which ACCIONA is a partner. The works are being carried out by the construction arm of the ACCIONA group, generating more than 9.000 jobs. Once completed, Line 6 will be operated by Linha Uni for 19 years.

The program is aimed at professionals who already work or have worked in the segment, whether they are engineers or technical and operational professionals, as well as recent graduates, women with no experience but interested in training and also in reentering the job market after becoming pregnant.

Added to this initiative are mentoring, training and technical training programs for women that the company has already been implementing in its operations in Brazil and that meet the pillars of ACCIONA's Sustainability Master Plan (PDS) 2025.
