In The First 45 Days Of The Year, 15 New Power Plants Were Authorized For Operation, Including Wind Farms, PCHs, And Thermal Power Plants

According to Aneel – the Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency, in the first 45 days of 2021, 15 new plants were authorized for commercial operation, reaching 191 MW of installed capacity. Among the new plants that were granted to operate, 9 are wind farms, 3 are PCHs – Small Hydroelectric Power Plants, and 3 are thermal plants.

Check Out Other News Of The Day:

Energy Generation Capacity:

Wind energy sources produced 155.20 MW, followed by PCHs with 27.60 and 8.61 from thermal plants.

According to Aneel, the country is expected to reach a total of 4,977 MW of installed capacity within this year. The majority will come from wind energy resources, estimated to reach 1,738 MW, followed by thermal energy resources of 1,693 MW, solar energy resources of 1,101 MW, biomass energy of 395 MW, and hydro sources at just 48.88 MW.

Voltalia Starts Construction Of The Wind Power Plant In Bahia That May Generate 1,500 Jobs

Voltalia Energia do Brasil has started construction of a wind power plant in the municipality of Canudos in Bahia, and it is expected that up to 50 direct jobs will be generated during operation and 1,500 indirect jobs during the construction of the wind power plant, which will have an installed capacity of 99 Megawatts (MW) with great potential for expansion.

The new plant in Bahia shows Voltalia’s ability to replicate a successful business model that made the 2.4 gigawatt Serra Branca cluster the largest wind and solar cluster in the world. This strategy consists of developing a large and competitive set of projects in the same location, aiming to retain some projects and sell others, all benefiting from economies of scale. The total estimated potential for Canudos is 1 gigawatt.
