A total of 14 exploratory oil block areas from nine basins are being offered in the second Cycle of the Permanent Offering: Santos, Espírito Santo, Campos, Paraná, Amazonas, Recôncavo, Sergipe-Alagoas, Potiguar, and Tucano.
The National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels – ANP, is offering two sectors of areas with marginal accumulations from the Solimões and Recôncavo basins. In total, 63 companies registered for the auction.
About Permanent Offering – ANP
In the Permanent Offering system, the ANP offers some specific types of areas. These are fields returned or in the process of being returned, and exploratory blocks offered in previous auctions that were not sold.
New exploratory oil blocks under study at the agency are also part of the bidding. Areas in the pre-salt, strategic areas, or located beyond 200 nautical miles on the Continental Shelf are excluded.
Bento Albuquerque, Minister of Mines and Energy, reinforced the federal government’s intent to include exploratory oil areas in the pre-salt in this type of auction in the near future.
