Equinor Will Carry Out Maintenance, Repair and Significant Modifications for the Safety, Performance and Efficiency of the Field in the Campos Basin.
The Norwegian company seeks new business with the local supply chain. Equinor is preparing to install the new Peregrino platform in the Campos Basin. Therefore, the forecast is for a high demand for labor to meet different types of activities, where maintenance, repair and significant modifications for the safety, performance and future efficiency of the field will be undertaken, stated Rafael Tristão, CEO of the company in Brazil.
According to Tristão, “In addition to the installation of flowlines and the hook-up of platform C, there will also be a period of high activity at the production unit, FPSO.” The executive adds, “Between January and May 2020, it is expected that more than 1200 workers will be simultaneously involved in various activities.”

Equinor plans to execute three major projects by the end of the next decade and that the hiring strategies for these projects “will be decided over this period, depending on market conditions,” concluded the executive.
The oil company estimates an investment of approximately US$ 15 billion in Brazil by 2030, intending to increase its production by 3 to 5 times. Based on its current portfolio, the company could achieve 300 to 500 thousand barrels per day. Currently, the only asset operated by Equinor Brasil is the Peregrino field.
In 2020, the oil company will focus on starting operations of the second phase of Peregrino, with the installation of the third platform. Furthermore, the company will work towards starting operations in the Carcará field in the pre-salt layer in 2023/2024.

Equinor expects a significant increase next year in the activities at the Peregrino field with the installation of the third platform in the field, which will increase the production capacity of the asset. In addition to the installation of flowlines and the hook-up of platform C, which will also occur during the high activity period at the production unit, FPSO.
Today, almost 90% of the products and services acquired by Equinor Brasil are of national origin or from suppliers established in the country, and the relationship with the supply chain has been positive.
The company expects to execute three major projects by the end of the next decade. The hiring strategies for these projects will be decided over this period, depending on market conditions, where local content conditions and the specifics of each project, as well as commercial conditions, standardization, simplification, and synergies with the company’s portfolio will dictate the decisions to be made.
The company will continue to evaluate the market in order to seek the best alternative for its portfolio projects, always aiming for safety, high value, and energy efficiency.
