According to the Endered Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL), the price of diesel reached an average of R$ 5.98 per liter in the first semester of 2024, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year.

In light of this scenario, it is worth analyzing the seven best-selling and most economical diesel pickups in Brazil in 2024.

Chevrolet S10

The Chevrolet S10, with 5,379 units sold, had a significant update in 2025, including a new 8-speed automatic transmission that improves fuel economy, achieving 9.5 km/l in the city and 11.4 km/l on the road. The 2.8 turbo diesel engine provides 200 hp and 51 kgfm of torque, ideal for those who need a powerful pickup for heavy-duty work.

Ford Ranger Pickup

With 5,053 units sold, the Ford Ranger is a strong competitor in the market. Its 2.0 turbo diesel engine offers a consumption of 10.2 km/l in the city and 11 km/l on the road, with a torque of 41.3 kgfm at 2,000 rpm. The power of 170 hp and the 4×4 traction make this pickup a robust and versatile choice.

Toyota Hilux

The Toyota Hilux maintains its prominent position with 10,211 units sold. This pickup, in addition to being known for its durability, has reasonable consumption, achieving 10.3 km/l in the city and 11.8 km/l on the road, according to Inmetro data. The 2.8 turbo diesel engine delivers 204 hp and 50.9 kgfm of torque, providing excellent performance both in the city and in the countryside.

Mitsubishi L200

The L200, with 2,530 units sold, is known for its resistance in difficult terrains. Its 2.4 turbo diesel engine provides a consumption of 10.5 km/l in the city and 12.5 km/l on the road, making it one of the most economical on road trips. With 190 hp and 43.9 kgfm of torque, this pickup is ideal for off-road adventures.

Fiat Strada Pickup

Absolute sales leader with 26,580 units sold so far, the Fiat Strada stands out for its economy. Although it is smaller compared to other pickups, its consumption is efficient, contributing to its success in the market. The diesel version of the Strada, equipped with a 1.3 Multijet engine, delivers 95 hp and 20.9 kgfm of torque, with consumption of 11 km/l in the city and 14 km/l on the road.

Volkswagen Saveiro

The Saveiro, with 12,365 units sold, is in second place. Known for its robustness and practicality, the Saveiro also offers good fuel consumption for those seeking economy. The 1.6 TDI engine provides 110 hp and 25.5 kgfm of torque, with consumption of 11.5 km/l in the city and 14.5 km/l on the road.

Fiat Toro Pickup

With 10,219 units sold, the Fiat Toro combines the comfort of an SUV with the utility of a pickup. Its 2.0 Multijet diesel engine provides a consumption of 10.5 km/l in the city and 13 km/l on the road, making it the most economical pickup in its segment. With 170 hp and 35.7 kgfm of torque, the Toro stands out for its efficiency and comfort.

Choosing the most economical diesel pickup depends on the specific needs of the driver. If the priority is fuel economy, the Fiat Toro stands out with its 2.0 Multijet engine, providing a consumption of 10.5 km/l in the city and 13 km/l on the road.
