Meet The Most Fined Car In Brazil: Fiat Uno Seized With Over R$ 1 Million In Fines That Have Accumulated For More Than 5 Years. Vehicle Had 939 Open Fines, According To Emdec (Municipal Development Company Of Campinas).

The Municipal Guard of Campinas (SP) seized, during a routine operation, a Fiat Uno Vivace 1.0 with an impressive record of 939 fines and debts totaling over R$ 1 million. Considered the most fined car in Brazil, the vehicle had been accumulating issues since 2019. The seizure occurred on July 31, 2024, after the car was identified by security cameras at a busy intersection in the city.

Know What Fines Are Applied To The Fiat Uno

The Municipal Development Company of Campinas (Emdec) details that the most fined car in Brazil was under observation due to numerous traffic violations recorded in its vehicle monitoring system.

Among the fines are 481 fines for lack of identification of the offending driver and 424 for speeding, as well as 34 for running a red light. During the seizure, the tow truck was called, and the vehicle was taken to the Emdec yard. As it was an administrative and not a criminal violation, there was no transport to the Police Station, and the driver was released.

The Fiat Uno is registered in the name of a company. It is worth mentioning that the most fined car in Brazil is a Fiat Uno Vivace, a more basic version of the model, aimed at consumers looking for an economical entry-level car that offers a simplified equipment and engine package, maintaining the essence of the original Uno at a more affordable price. The model was launched here in 2010 and was discontinued in mid-2021, making way for the Fiat Mobi.

One Of The Most Fined Cars In Brazil Costs R$ 32 Thousand Currently

Through an integrated partnership, Emdec and GM have been removing vehicles from the streets that accumulate high fines to discourage dangerous driving, identify drivers who repeatedly commit violations, and thus avoid traffic accidents.

According to the agency, in front of this partnership, Emdec identifies, through monitoring cameras of electronic enforcement equipment, vehicles with recurring serious violations, and these are added to a database shared with the Municipal Guard, which carries out the approach and seizure.

To remove the vehicle from the yard, the “owner” of the most fined car in Brazil must pay overdue fines, fees, and yard expenses for removal and storage. The release is also conditioned upon the presentation of the cleared and regularized model documentation, the RG of the owner issued no more than ten years ago, CNH, and the proper functioning of mandatory safety equipment. The Municipal Guard estimates that the market value of the Fiat Uno is around R$ 32 thousand.

Know What Is The Second Most Fined Car In Brazil

In addition to this, another Fiat Uno, from an older generation, was also seized by the Military Police with 882 traffic infractions. However, this case occurred in Guarulhos, in the Greater São Paulo area. In total, the fines amounted to R$ 224,580.77.

The vehicle was identified after a blockade operation conducted by the Military Police; it was an old model, but in good condition. According to police information, the average value of each fine was R$ 249.43. Of the total, 280 infractions were committed for exceeding the speed limit on the roads.

The action is part of a project by the Military Police in partnership with the Traffic Safety Group of STMU (Department of Transportation and Urban Mobility) of the municipality, which plans to remove vehicles with a high number of violations from circulation.
