GAC GS3 Will Be Launched in Brazil in 2026. Chinese SUV Bets on Internal Combustion Engine, Good Interior Space, and Competitive Price.
The GAC GS3, new Chinese SUV, will be launched in Brazil in March 2026, bringing a proposal that goes against electrification by exclusively betting on an internal combustion engine.
Developed by the Chinese automaker GAC Motor, the model arrives in the country to compete in the crowded compact/midsize SUV segment, targeting more conservative consumers.
The launch in Brazil is part of the brand’s strategy to increase its presence in the national market with more accessible products, positioned below its hybrid and electric models.

GAC GS3 and the Competitive Scenario of the SUV Market in Brazil
The launch in Brazil of the GAC GS3 comes at a time of strong saturation in the SUV market.
Only in 2025, dozens of new models, redesigns, and engine changes arrived at dealerships.
Still, GAC believes there is room for one more competitor, especially a Chinese SUV with a traditional proposal.
While many brands bet on electrification, the GAC GS3 follows a different path.
The choice for an internal combustion engine aims to meet consumers who are still not comfortable with hybrids or electric cars, whether due to cost, infrastructure, or usage profile.
Dimensions Place the GAC GS3 Between Compact and Midsize
Although positioned as a compact/midsize SUV, the GAC GS3 stands out for its generous dimensions.
The model measures 4.41 meters in length and has a 2.65-meter wheelbase, figures equivalent to those of a Jeep Compass.
This size ensures good interior space, comfortably accommodating four adults and a child.
However, the trunk capacity of 341 liters is below some direct competitors, which may weigh on the purchasing decision of larger families.
Internal Combustion Engine is the Main Differential of the Chinese SUV
The heart of the GAC GS3 is a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine, with direct injection, delivering 177 horsepower and 27.5 kgfm of torque.
According to the manufacturer, performance is one of the model’s strengths.
The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, a competitive figure compared to rivals like Fiat Fastback Turbo and Honda HR-V turbo. The consumption promise is 10 km/l in the city and 13 km/l on the highway.
GAC has already confirmed that a flex version is under development and should arrive in 2027, alongside the start of national production in Catalão (GO).
Competitive Pricing Signifies the Positioning of the GAC GS3
Even with high performance, the launch in Brazil of the GAC GS3 is expected to surprise with its price.
The expectation is that the SUV will be sold between R$ 140 thousand and R$ 160 thousand, below more powerful versions of direct competitors.
This strategy follows the so-called “old Chinese school,” combining more content for a price lower than the segment average.
With this, the model creates a clear distance from other GAC products, such as the hybrid GS4 and the electric Aion Y.
Versions, Equipment, and Technology Package
The Chinese SUV is expected to arrive in two versions: Elite and Premium. Even in the base configuration, the GAC GS3 promises a robust package, with digital air conditioning, panoramic sunroof, 18-inch wheels, digital dashboard, and multimedia center.
The most complete version adds an electric trunk, larger multimedia screen, and an advanced driver assistance package, such as adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist.
Driving Will Still Be Adapted to Brazilian Tastes
Thus, the first impressions behind the wheel, conducted in China, indicated that the model’s dynamics still need adjustments.
On the other hand, the precise steering received praise.
GAC has confirmed that the GAC GS3 will undergo specific adaptations for Brazil, focusing on comfort and drivability.
Is It Worth the Bet on the GAC GS3?
Interior space, good equipment level, and powerful engine are relevant attributes.
Thus, the big unknown remains the brand’s acceptance in a highly competitive market.
Still, the launch in Brazil of the GAC GS3 shows that the Chinese SUV did not come just to make its presence known but to directly compete for customers.
