“Even in the midst of the pandemic, we are delivering one of the most incredible and important in the national territory and in advance, something that will be available to the public and that, on top of that, not only raised the level of the Foz do Iguaçu airport, but will also attract tourists from different regions”, highlighted Governor Ratinho Junior.
The work on the new airport and the extremely important investment by Itaipu
After investments by Itaipu, the airport could be expanded by more than 600 meters in length, previously it had 2.195 meters and after the works it became 2.795 meters, now the airport in the Paraná region and thanks to Itaipu has become the largest in the region South of the country.
More than 17 trucks participated in the contract for the construction and restructuring of the new airport, and now there is the possibility of flights to Central America and the United States in the region.
Another highlight that cannot be overlooked would be the new partnership signed in October 2020 between Infraero and Itaipu with the duplication of the road that gives access to the airport by implementing a bike path to generate more security, an investment that cost Rs. $6,14 million.
Itaipu is already eyeing the 2023 market

In addition, incorporate the highest standards of quality, safety, environmental care, management and transparency in administration; and with benefits for both countries, including the provision of reliable electricity for the interconnected systems in Paraguay and Brazil, as well as sustainable development and regional integration.
The company to be hired must not manifest itself on issues related to the revision of the ITAIPU Treaty-Annex C, which corresponds to the High Contracting Parties.
