Good news for the naval sector, after starting a bidding process for more than 20 platforms in maintenance contracts that will boost the oil and gas market in December, Petrobras announced this morning (11/17) during its 3rd technical forum, its intentions to contract the next four platforms for the Búzios field in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin.

“We hope to soon proceed with the hiring strategy,” said Mário Khan, general manager of the Búzios field.
The Búzios field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin, has four oil platforms in production and is awaiting the FPSO Almirante Barroso, which has already been contracted. Additionally, this year Petrobras started the hiring of three more units, the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré and the P-78 and P-79 units.

According to the executive, in addition to the oil platforms for the Búzios field, a 4D seismic will also be contracted. “We will definitely use this technology. We see a lot of value in 4D seismic, especially in a reservoir of this magnitude. It will allow us to see how all the fluids are behaving,” he stated.
According to Mariana Paes, executive manager of the Libra reservoir, also in the pre-salt of Santos, in order to help reduce the maintenance time of assets and avoid failures in the field, Petrobras will invest in digital twin technology for the reservoir. “This way, we can ensure greater efficiency and availability of the equipment,” Paes said.
About the Búzios Field in the Pre-Salt Layer of the Santos Basin
The Búzios field, located in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin and discovered in 2010, is the largest deep water oil field in the world. The forecast is that the field will operate with 12 platforms in total by the end of the decade.
