New Chinese Plant in Itumbiara Promises Investments in the Agricultural Market in Brazil and Latin America

The Chinese giant Weichai officially announced, last Wednesday (11), the inauguration of its factory in Itumbiara, in southern Goiás. With a investment of R$ 100 million, the new industrial plant will be responsible for the production of high-performance engines and agricultural machinery. The initiative aims to serve the Brazilian market and other countries in Latin America, strengthening the company’s presence in the region, according to the website Portal6.

Weichai in Goiás: A Milestone for the Regional Economy

The arrival of Weichai’s factory in Itumbiara was celebrated as a historic moment for the state of Goiás. During the presentation, the Secretary of Industry and Commerce, Joel de Sant’Anna Braga Filho, highlighted the positive impact of the partnership on the Goiás economy, noting that the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 6% in 2023.

The mayor of Itumbiara, Dione Araújo, emphasized the importance of the industrial installation, defining it as “a watershed” for the local economy. In addition to strengthening the agro-industrial sector with modern equipment, the company is expected to generate direct and indirect profits, consolidating the city as a strategic hub for the agricultural market.

Inauguration with Presence of Authorities and Business Leaders

The inauguration conference, held at the Palácio das Esmeraldas, was attended by authorities such as Governor Ronaldo Caiado, Vice President of the Shandong Group, Zhang Gengsheng, and CEO of Stemac, Valdo Marques. Also present were the Secretary of Industry and Commerce, Joel de Sant’Anna, and the mayor of Itumbiara, Dione Araújo.

During the event, Caiado highlighted the importance of attracting foreign investments to Goiás, a result of business dealings initiated in 2023 during his official mission in China. At that time, Weichai representatives visited Goiânia to finalize the terms of installing the factory in the state.

Economic Impacts and Job Creation in Goiás

The installation of Weichai’s factory reflects the increasing attractiveness of Goiás for investments in the industrial sector. With the company’s arrival, the region expects not only a significant increase in job creation but also the strengthening of related sectors, such as logistics and supply of inputs.

The partnership between the state of Goiás and Weichai reinforces the commitment to attract global companies, promoting the economic and social development of the region. The positive impact of this initiative extends beyond Itumbiara, positioning the state as a reference in innovation and production in the agricultural sector.
