The Chinese giant Weichai officially announced, last Wednesday (11), the inauguration of its factory in Itumbiara, in southern Goiás. With a investment of R$ 100 million, the new industrial plant will be responsible for the production of high-performance engines and agricultural machinery. The initiative aims to serve the Brazilian market and other countries in Latin America, strengthening the company’s presence in the region, according to the website Portal6.
Weichai in Goiás: A Milestone for the Regional Economy
The arrival of Weichai’s factory in Itumbiara was celebrated as a historic moment for the state of Goiás. During the presentation, the Secretary of Industry and Commerce, Joel de Sant’Anna Braga Filho, highlighted the positive impact of the partnership on the Goiás economy, noting that the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 6% in 2023.
The mayor of Itumbiara, Dione Araújo, emphasized the importance of the industrial installation, defining it as “a watershed” for the local economy. In addition to strengthening the agro-industrial sector with modern equipment, the company is expected to generate direct and indirect profits, consolidating the city as a strategic hub for the agricultural market.

During the event, Caiado highlighted the importance of attracting foreign investments to Goiás, a result of business dealings initiated in 2023 during his official mission in China. At that time, Weichai representatives visited Goiânia to finalize the terms of installing the factory in the state.
