The Baojun brand, which operates in the country, recently introduced the Cloud, the latest rival to the BYD Dolphin and the BYD Dolphin Mini. The shape is between a hatchback and a minivan, following BYD’s electric car, and the design is completely different from other Baojun models.

With interconnected daytime running lights, the headlights are separated right in the middle of the front bumper. GM refers to this design style as sky aesthetics.
From the side, there is a spy window between the C and D pillars, which increases the glazed area of the electric car. However, its rear is even more different, with small taillights connected through a LED strip underneath. The reflectors are integrated into the piece that simulates a bumper extractor.
Inside, the Cloud features a digital instrument cluster on an 8.8-inch screen and a floating multimedia center with a 15.6-inch screen based on the LINGOS2 system, with voice command, remote commands via smartphones, and a native navigator.
New Cloud Delivers Up To 460 Km Of Range
The entry-level version comes with a 10.1-inch multimedia center and digital and automatic air conditioning, electric mirrors, cruise control, and a rearview camera. All these features explain its starting price of equivalent to R$ 65,700, making it a cheaper electric car than the BYD Dolphin Mini.
Intermediate versions have greater range and the ability to charge other electric vehicles. Only the top version features ambient lighting in the cabin with 256 colors, a wireless charger for smartphones, a trunk with electric opening, and a sunroof.
This is truly GM’s most affordable electric car, and all configurations come with the same front electric motor of 100 kW, equivalent to 136 horsepower and 20.4 kgfm of torque. One differentiating factor between the versions is the battery capacity.
The entry-level model of the electric car comes with a 37.9 kWh battery and a range of 360 km, while the more complete version of the BYD Dolphin rival comes with a 50.6 kWh battery and can go up to 460 km on a single charge, numbers considered standard for Chinese measurements. For comparison purposes, the Dolphin can go up to 405 km according to the Chinese cycle.
GM’s New Electric Car Can Charge Other Electric Vehicles
The Cloud takes 40 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% using fast charging. The version of the electric car with the more powerful battery can power other electronics and even serve as a charger for another electric vehicle. The electric vehicle even has a size similar to its competitor, measuring 4.29 m in length, 1.85 m in width, 1.65 m in height, and 2.70 m in wheelbase, boasting a modern look.
Costing around R$ 65,700, in comparison, the cheapest BYD Dolphin is sold in China for about R$ 79,000. The intermediate version of the model with greater range and the option to use the car’s energy to power electronics is priced at R$ 84,500 and offers more color options.
