Initial Plant Will Have the Capacity for 300 Tons Daily of Green Fuel, Focused on Exporting to European and North American Markets.
The government of Pernambuco signed a contract with GoVerde. The agreement provides for the installation of a factory to produce e-methanol. The unit will be located in the Suape Industrial Port Complex and is derived from green hydrogen.
The project represents an important step for the green economy in the state. The contract was signed on Monday, June 9. Governor Raquel Lyra (PSD) was present and highlighted the importance of the initiative. “With this innovation, we ensure that Pernambuco grows sustainably, through the green economy,” she stated.
Billion-Dollar Investment for E-Methanol Production
The first phase of the project will receive an investment of R$ 2 billion. The factory is expected to begin operations by 2028. Initially, the plant will produce up to 300 tons of e-methanol per day. GoVerde was the sole bidder in the state government’s tender for this contract.

E-Methanol Production Focused on Export
The location of the Port of Suape is strategic. Therefore, the production of e-methanol will be focused on exports. The main clients are from the naval industry and the aviation sector in Europe and the United States. The enterprise reinforces Pernambuco’s bet on fuels of the future.
Tripling Production by 2032
The enterprise already has an expansion plan. The goal is to reach a volume of 900 tons of e-methanol per day by 2032. The plant will start on a 10-hectare area. Subsequently, it will expand by an additional 20 hectares.
“We are building a complete, safe and sustainable supply chain for green fuel,” said GoVerde CEO Ricardo Junqueira. He emphasized that the plant in Suape places Brazil on the global decarbonization route.
Suape Solidifies as a Sustainability Hub
The arrival of GoVerde strengthens Suape’s position in the renewable energy sector. “This is another step we have taken in consolidating an economy focused on fuels of the future,” said Pernambuco’s Secretary of Economic Development, Guilherme Cavalcanti.
He added, stating that Suape was designed to be a major sustainability hub. It is worth noting that last year, the government of Pernambuco had already signed an agreement with European Energy for a similar e-methanol project in Suape, also with investments of R$ 2 billion.
