The flotel UMS Venus, from GranIHC, will be chartered for a firm period of about 300 days, with the possibility of extending the contract for another 180 days. The two oil companies have been negotiating the terms of the contract since June.
GranIHC presented the lowest daily rate in the bid conducted by the Japanese Modec, under the auction model, with a proposal below US$ 70,000/day, outperforming proposals from Prosafe and Posh, which offered the units Safe Concordia and Posh Xanadu, respectively.
Currently undergoing minor repairs, the UMS is docked at Porto do Açu, at the Dome dock, in São João da Barra (RJ).
