Investment in the Solar Energy Market in SP, RJ, MT Advances
The renewable energy group will begin construction of the facilities in the second half of the year in the states of SP, RJ, MT, PE, and PA. This expansion in renewable energy aims to enhance the electricity subscription service in Brazil.
The first of the solar plants was built earlier this year in the city of Iguatama, in the state of Minas Gerais. The service, targeted mainly at consumers who spend more than R$ 300 per month on their electricity bills, offers a reduction of up to 25% in the bill amount, depending on the region, according to the renewable energy group. The new solar plants in SP, RJ, MT, and the other states are expected to serve households, local industries, and businesses.

Canadian engineers want to compress air in underground caverns and build plants of up to 500 MW that function as giant lungs to store renewable energy for hours and stabilize entire electrical grids.
The Director of Gera Group, Ramon Oliveira, explains: “With this expansion to the states of SP, RJ, MT, we strengthen this solution focused on providing a cost-saving option without requiring an upfront investment from consumers. The expansion in renewable energy has already been a request from several clients since the model poses no risk to consumers and still helps reduce energy costs.”
Investments in Solar Plants in Brazil Grow
In 2021, ABSOLAR estimates that the total of all new investments in solar plants will be R$ 22.6 billion. This estimate includes private investments in Distributed Generation as well as Centralized Generation.
The entity states that the expected growth is 4.9 GW of installed capacity in Brazil, representing 68% of the current capacity of 7.5 GW. The data also shows that Distributed Generation is expected to increase by about 90%, going from 4.4 GW to 8.3 GW of installed capacity.
