Grupo SIM Announces New Million-Dollar Investment for Building a Fuel Distributor in Santa Maria.
Grupo SIM, a fuel distribution network, has new plans to install a unit in Santa Maria, a municipality in Rio Grande do Sul, expecting to generate 50 new direct jobs and dozens of indirect ones, as well as taxes for the municipality. An investment of R$ 25 million will be made for a fuel base by SIM Distribuidora, Vibra Energia (Formerly BR Distribuidora), and Charrua Distribuidora.
Fuel Distributor Base to Be Installed Next to SIM Gas Station
Grupo SIM is the largest gas station network in the country, according to a report published this Wednesday (21) in the newspaper Valor, expected to close this year with R$ 12.5 billion in net revenue and a movement of 2.5 billion liters of fuels.
The network has 160 gas stations in Southern Brazil and plans to reach 200 by 2025. The news of the investment coming to RS, which will result in the opening of dozens of job vacancies, was shared by the mayor Jorge Pozzobom (PSDB) this Friday (23). The investment he recently reported negotiating and stated that the city hall will do everything in its power to support the installation of the fuel distributor.

Project in RS Will Allow Movement of 30 Million Liters Monthly
According to Argenta, the fuel base will receive imported products from ports like Rio Grande, Itajaí (SC), Araucária (PR), in addition to Petrobras products made in Canoas, from Braskem or from Riograndense, from Rio Grande, as well as anhydrous and biodiesel to mix with gasoline and diesel.
The capacity of the project, which promises to generate numerous job opportunities, will be 5 to 6 million liters, thus allowing for the movement of 30 to 35 million liters monthly. An essential investment for the municipality and RS, considering that everything within 200 km of Santa Maria will seek fuel in the municipality to supply stations, large consumers, agribusiness, and TRRs.
The businessman from the Group stated last Friday that construction is expected to begin in 2023 and that the commencement of activities for the new distributor in RS is planned for 2024.
Grupo SIM Acquires Charrua Distributor
In June of this year, SIM announced the purchase of the Charrua distributor, and the negotiation was mediated by the consultancy Bateleur, which includes the purchase of Charrua Distribuidora and the two Retail Reseller Transporters (TRRs) of the company.
With the officialization of the deal, which still depends on analysis and approval from the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade), the executive board of Charrua will be maintained with Dag Cremer and Luiz Henrique Merello, along with the operation employees, TRRs, and distributor, who will remain in their positions.
According to Elvidio Eckert, the focus now will be on the companies of Grupo Arco Brasil, and the decision to negotiate with this long-standing partner brings Grupo SIM confidence that the seriousness with which the Charrua brand was conducted will continue under the management of the company.
