The Honda Biz 125, loved for its fuel economy, also faces criticism for noise and rigid suspension. With a competitive price and easy maintenance, is it worth it? Read our complete analysis and find out!

The Honda Biz 125, with its efficiency of traveling 250 km on just five liters of fuel, is a favorite among Brazilians.

But is all this love justified? Although it is one of the most well-known and beloved motorcycles on the market, the Biz also accumulates a number of problems that have irritated many of its owners.

History and Popularity

Since its launch in 1998, the Honda Biz has secured a prominent place in the Brazilian market.

Its winning formula combines the practicality of scooters with the robustness of conventional bikes, thanks to its centralized engine and sequential gear shifts with automatic transmission.

The Biz is currently the second best-selling motorcycle in Brazil, with 152,059 units registered in the first half of this year, coming in behind only the Honda CG 160.

The bike has evolved over the years, gaining improvements such as combined brakes (CBS), electronic fuel injection, electric start, and flex fuel capabilities.

Today, it is sold in two versions: the 110i and the 125, with the engine size being the main difference between them. The Biz 125 features a 124.9 cm³ flex engine, producing 9.2 hp and 1.04 kgfm, working with a four-speed transmission.

Pricing and the Used Market

According to Honda’s website, the 125 version of the Biz starts at R$ 14,610, but in practice, prices can reach R$ 17,000 or R$ 18,000 due to fees and shipping.

In the used market, the Biz is also highly sought after, with three-year-old units being sold for around R$ 14,000 to R$ 15,000, virtually the same price as a brand new bike.

Main Reported Problems

Despite its success, the Honda Biz 125 is not perfect. One of the main issues reported by owners is noise.

According to reports on the Reclame Aqui website, these sounds can originate from the vibration of the fairing, the seat latch, and even the dashboard, which can shake and produce noise.

In some cases, owners have also reported water leaking into the dashboard, as well as stains caused by exposure to sunlight and weather, even on nearly new bikes.

Another point of concern is the behavior of the suspension. Although the Biz has 17” wheels in the front and 14” in the back, with travel of 22 cm and 11 cm respectively, the suspension can be stiff, causing discomfort depending on road conditions.

Finally, the performance of the 125 engine is not ideal for expressways or highways. The Biz lacks power at high speeds, and many owners miss a fifth gear, which would help the engine work with less effort and reduce noise and vibrations.

Problem Description
Noise Sounds from the vibration of the fairing, seat latch, and dashboard.
Dashboard Shaking Shaking that produces noise and, in some cases, water leaking into the dashboard.
Dashboard Stains Stains caused by exposure to sunlight and weather, even on nearly new bikes.
Suspension Behavior Stiff suspension causing discomfort under certain road conditions.
Engine Performance Lack of power on expressways or highways, with absence of a fifth gear.

Advantages That Compensate for the Problems

Despite the complaints, the advantages of the Biz 125 often outweigh the problems. The main one is practicality for daily use. The Biz is a lightweight bike, with just 100 kg of dry weight, and has a generous storage compartment under the seat, capable of holding a full-face helmet.

Since 2011, the Biz has become flex, and the fuel tank has increased from four to 5.1 liters, improving autonomy. When using gasoline, the motorcycle can yield about 45 km/l to 50 km/l, depending on usage.

Another positive point is the simple and low-cost maintenance. Owners often highlight the ease and affordability of maintaining the Biz 125.

So, Is It Worth It?

The Honda Biz 125 has its problems, like any vehicle, but its advantages often compensate for the negatives. For those seeking a practical, economical, and easy-to-maintain motorcycle, the Biz remains an excellent choice.

É verdade, todo esses problemas irritam sim. Mas os benefícios da mesma ainda superam.
