With Artificial Intelligence working alongside operators, companies can optimize their operations, and even less experienced employees can acquire new skills more quickly, gaining access to decades of industry knowledge within their own company. In a recent survey, Honeywell consulted 1,000 AI executive leaders worldwide and found that nearly two-thirds of respondents believe that increasing efficiency and productivity of workers is the most promising use of AI.
The Role of AI in Automation Megatrends
The alignment of Honeywell’s portfolio with the automation megatrend is grounded in optimizing operations to improve operational efficiency and support the workforce. ‘As the industrial workforce faces a global skills and experience shortage, workers remain an essential part of the automation journey,’ said Lucian Boldea, President and CEO of Honeywell Industrial Automation. ‘Our AI-enabled technologies aim to improve the performance of industrial workers, allowing them to increase efficiency and accelerate the time required to achieve expertise.’
Honeywell is launching a new AI solution: the Honeywell Field Process Knowledge System (PKS) and its AI-enabled ‘field assistant’, powered by Honeywell Forge, are designed to make operations and maintenance easier, safer, and more precise. This solution includes a web-based application for supervisors and a mobile device for field workers, providing an integrated view for all field tasks, including operations, maintenance, permits, and documentation.
AI and Existing Systems
Honeywell is also integrating AI-assisted capabilities into its existing solutions, such as Experion® PKS, an industry-leading distributed control system that now offers comprehensive operation support through predictive alerts, recommendations, and troubleshooting. The AI-assisted Experion Operations Assistant enhances production and helps maintain system operations at optimal levels.
Honeywell’s AI-enabled services can provide predictive notifications of issues with recommended actions throughout the entire life cycle of the facility. Additionally, the solution offers engineering support for a faster project start and operations ready from day one.
Operational Intelligence and Data Analysis
Honeywell Production Intelligence is designed to contextualize Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) data from local operations, providing valuable insights and recommendations based on detailed analytics for executives across the company. It also offers near-real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and predictive modules to help address and prevent future production issues.
