Honeywell Launches Solutions With Artificial Intelligence, Integrating Deep Domain Data for Operational Efficiency in the Energy Industry, Focusing on Refining Operations.
Honeywell has announced significant innovations by incorporating Artificial Intelligence into its processes in the energy sector. With a strong track record of decades in the field, the company is leveraging valuable insights to enhance its operations. The adoption of Artificial Intelligence aims to integrate complex industrial processes, bringing more efficiency and paving the way for solving complex challenges that the industry currently faces. This move promises to transform the landscape of traditional operations, making them more fast and effective.
By diving deeply into domain data, the solutions proposed by Honeywell aim not only to optimize but also to reinvent the way the energy sector operates. By using artificial intelligence and its analytical capabilities, the company positions itself as a catalyst for change, raising operational standards as it addresses problems that were once considered difficult to manage. Continuous innovation is part of Honeywell’s DNA, leading to a future where smart solutions play a crucial role in improving refining operations and beyond.
Intelligent Solutions With Artificial Intelligence
Honeywell offers innovative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions designed to help employees work smarter, making systems more efficient and accelerating the path of industrial plant operations toward autonomy. Merging decades of industry knowledge and deep domain data with the latest AI technologies, including Honeywell Forge, the company is integrating Artificial Intelligence into new and existing solutions. This provides companies with a seamless technology experience, both for field workers and process operators in the control room and corporate executives.

An Italian company has created an underwater drone that lives on the ocean floor for 12 consecutive months without returning to the surface, and the embedded artificial intelligence allows it to inspect and repair oil pipelines on its own.
The current energy industry faces a series of critical challenges, including a widespread shortage of skilled talent to manage facilities and the need to increase operational efficiency, while maintaining the accuracy and quality of processes. To address these challenges, Honeywell’s AI solutions can accelerate decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and enhance workforce productivity. Additionally, they provide enhanced training for better worker empowerment.
Partnership With Chevron and Product Expansion
To further expand solutions for the energy sector, Honeywell announced a strategic partnership with Chevron to develop additional advanced solutions using AI, focused on improving refining operations. Among the new features is the Experion Operations Assistant, which incorporates explainable Artificial Intelligence into the industrial process, assisting operators in identifying production issues and providing detailed guidance for problem resolution.
With Artificial Intelligence working alongside operators, companies can optimize their operations, and even less experienced employees can acquire new skills more quickly, gaining access to decades of industry knowledge within their own company. In a recent survey, Honeywell consulted 1,000 AI executive leaders worldwide and found that nearly two-thirds of respondents believe that increasing efficiency and productivity of workers is the most promising use of AI.
The Role of AI in Automation Megatrends
The alignment of Honeywell’s portfolio with the automation megatrend is grounded in optimizing operations to improve operational efficiency and support the workforce. ‘As the industrial workforce faces a global skills and experience shortage, workers remain an essential part of the automation journey,’ said Lucian Boldea, President and CEO of Honeywell Industrial Automation. ‘Our AI-enabled technologies aim to improve the performance of industrial workers, allowing them to increase efficiency and accelerate the time required to achieve expertise.’
Honeywell is launching a new AI solution: the Honeywell Field Process Knowledge System (PKS) and its AI-enabled ‘field assistant’, powered by Honeywell Forge, are designed to make operations and maintenance easier, safer, and more precise. This solution includes a web-based application for supervisors and a mobile device for field workers, providing an integrated view for all field tasks, including operations, maintenance, permits, and documentation.
AI and Existing Systems
Honeywell is also integrating AI-assisted capabilities into its existing solutions, such as Experion® PKS, an industry-leading distributed control system that now offers comprehensive operation support through predictive alerts, recommendations, and troubleshooting. The AI-assisted Experion Operations Assistant enhances production and helps maintain system operations at optimal levels.
Honeywell’s AI-enabled services can provide predictive notifications of issues with recommended actions throughout the entire life cycle of the facility. Additionally, the solution offers engineering support for a faster project start and operations ready from day one.
Operational Intelligence and Data Analysis
Honeywell Production Intelligence is designed to contextualize Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) data from local operations, providing valuable insights and recommendations based on detailed analytics for executives across the company. It also offers near-real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and predictive modules to help address and prevent future production issues.
