Frustrated With The Performance Of His Ford P100, British Mechanic Simon Lipscombe Installed A Military Jet Engine In The Truck Bed, Creating An Unusual Project That Combines Extreme Power And Technical Simplicity
Dissatisfaction with the performance of a Ford P100 led British mechanic Simon Lipscombe and his father, Richard, to create a completely unconventional project: adapting a jet engine in a pickup truck. The idea arose from frustration with the original model’s performance and eventually became an unprecedented mechanical experiment.
From Military Plane To Truck Bed
Simon, who works as a chief mechanic at a rental company, found the engine for sale on eBay. The equipment came from an Avro Shackleton, an old British military aircraft, and cost £2,000 — about R$ 13 thousand.
Despite its compact size, the engine produces 1,180 kilograms of thrust and was originally used to assist takeoff of the aircraft.

Onix Plus, Cobalt, and even Cruze: Chevrolet sedans dominate the used car market with trunks of up to 500 liters, economical engines, affordable maintenance, and versions that have become favorites among families and app drivers in Brazil.
Before mounting the engine on the vehicle, the mechanic studied its operation. With the help of YouTube videos, he conducted tests tied to a tree with a trailer, just to measure the power and ensure the safety of the process.
Assembly And Operation
For the project, Simon acquired another P100, without restoration, and installed the 800-kilogram engine in the truck bed.
The jet engine is responsible for extreme propulsion, while the original diesel engine at the front is still used for normal driving.
The jet control is done manually. Two buttons turn on and off the system, and a three-position switch regulates the acceleration level. This simplicity was designed to facilitate handling during tests.
Power And Limitations Of The Engine
The engine stands out for being multi-fuel — it works with gasoline, diesel, or aviation kerosene — which reduces costs compared to traditional aviation gasoline.
However, there are limitations. Simon cannot activate the engine at public events due to insurance issues. Therefore, he intends to officially test the pickup’s performance on a drag strip in Santa Pod, UK, although he acknowledges that the maximum speed may be restricted.

é maluco.
Ao menos tá tentando né, bem pior que brazucas n reclamam por nada, por isso Brazil e visto como república de tannnn!!!
