Yuan reaches highest appreciation against the dollar since 2023, and unexpected rise of the Chinese currency reignites debate about the loss of economic and financial strength of the United States.
The Ministry of Social Security decided to extend the period by three more months, with the aim of broadening the reach of the measure and ensuring that all affected beneficiaries have the opportunity to register their complaints within the deadline.
With the extension, retirees and pensioners now have a final date of February 14 to request the refund of unauthorized deductions.
The INSS considers this period as a window for those who have not yet challenged to submit requests within the current calendar.
Reimbursement Numbers: 6.2 Million Challenged And R$ 2.8 Billion Were Paid
The report released indicates 6.2 million challenges related to charges considered undue.
Within this group, about 4.1 million beneficiaries have already had their amounts refunded.
The financial volume reported is approximately R$ 2.8 billion returned to the insured.
Even with this progress, the official estimate of 3 million retirees and pensioners remains who are eligible to request a refund but have not yet started the process.
Operation Without Discount And The Fraud Scheme In Agreements
The irregularities came to light after the launch of Operation Without Discount, conducted by the Federal Police in conjunction with the Office of the Comptroller General (CGU).
The investigation identified a fraud scheme involving Technical Cooperation Agreements established between the INSS and associative entities.
According to the findings described, these agreements were allegedly used to facilitate unauthorized deductions without the express consent of beneficiaries.
As a consequence, part of the high administration of the institute was removed in April.
How To Request The Refund Via Official INSS Channels
Refund requests can be made through the official INSS channels. One of them is the Meu INSS app or website, accessible via the Gov.br Portal.
Another option is the telephone hotline 135, which operates free of charge from Monday to Saturday, from 7 AM to 10 PM.
There is also in-person service at Post Office branches, with over 5,000 units nationwide, for retirees and pensioners who prefer to register their requests in person.
With the final deadline on February 14, the INSS is counting down the days for retirees and pensioners who have not yet initiated the process to submit their requests and enter the queue for refunds of unauthorized deductions.
The practical way is to use an official channel, register the challenge, and monitor the status of the reimbursement.
Have you checked if there are unauthorized deductions in your benefit and, if so, will you request the refund before February 14?
