The Federal Institute of Brasília (IFB) has over 200 free spots in higher education courses and training for teachers in four administrative regions of the Federal District. Applications for IFB’s free courses must be made through the Unified Selection System (SISU).
List of Free Courses Open at the Federal Institute in 2024
In total, 203 free spots will be offered for undergraduate courses at the Federal Institute. The spots in the free courses will be for four of the ten units of IFB in the DF, namely Ceilândia, Estrutural, Gama, and Planaltina. Among the courses offered are:
Degree in Spanish Language at IFB Ceilândia Campus
This course aims to train teachers to work in Basic Education, from an interdisciplinary curricular perspective that follows new teaching precepts, combining teaching practice with the context and needs of society.

Degree in Mathematics
Aims to train Mathematics teachers for Basic Education, that is, to work from the sixth to the ninth grade of Elementary School and in the three years of High School, aware of their role as educators and committed to the dissemination of mathematical knowledge as trainers in practice.
Administration
Aims to train professional citizens with extensive knowledge of Public Administration, capable of acting at the federal, state, and municipal levels, managing governmental and non-governmental organizations competently, proactively, democratically, and ethically.
Agroecology at IFB
Aims to encourage and contribute to the production of scientific knowledge in the field of Agroecology, promoting agroecology taking into account its various dimensions, organizing meetings and congresses, such as the Brazilian Congress of Agroecology, for discussion and presentation of works on Agroecology, editing and disseminating works on the subject, and advocating for the protection of agrobiodiversity.
Enrollment in Courses at the Federal Institute of Brasília
Those interested in the free spots at IFB must have taken some edition of the National High School Exam (ENEM) and register through SISU. The selection process for free courses is simple, and all necessary information, including deadlines and specific requirements, is available on the official selection website.
The candidate can submit only one course at the Federal Institute per campus; the candidate’s document submission implies knowledge and acceptance of all conditions set forth in this document.
The analyses of document submissions, whether online or in person according to the campus, will be carried out by the Campus Academic Records. Among the documents required for enrollment in free courses are:
- Valid official identification document with photo;
- Certificate of completion of high school or equivalent, obtained by the enrollment date;
- Two identical and recent 3×4 photographs;
- Military Service Exemption Certificate or Discharge Certificate for males over 18 years old.
IFB Still Offers Other Free Spots
In addition to these spots in courses at the Federal Institute, IFB, in partnership with the State University of Western Paraná (Unioeste), is offering a free online training course for mathematics teachers. The course focuses on teachers of the final years of Elementary School and aims at creativity in teaching mathematics.
