Canadian engineers want to compress air in underground caverns and build plants of up to 500 MW that function as giant lungs to store renewable energy for hours and stabilize entire electrical grids.
The companies signed an Investment Agreement at the end of last year to establish the partnership aimed at wind energy generation.
The wind power generation park project has a capacity of 155 MW, equivalent to 78 average MW of assured energy, of which 60 average MW have already been sold through a 20-year contract signed between the JV and Unipar.
The project is under construction and is part of the Tucano wind complex with 583 MW, located in Bahia. The commissioning of the 155 MW is scheduled for the second half of 2022.
AES’s financial director, Clarissa Sadock, stated that to finance the project, AES Tietê does not rule out issuing infrastructure debentures. She added that the company has already applied for credit with BNB and BNDES, highlights the InfoMoney portal.
AES Tietê plans to produce energy using only 100% renewable sources and, therefore, does not rule out acquiring more wind and solar energy assets.
